sounds like -- >> this bear walks into a car. >> then it hits the on star. >> more on that adorable story. but a lot of news to get to starting with the white house responding to allegations that president trump shared highly classified information with the russians. >> want to show you the morning headlines from "the washington post" and "the new york times," this morning, both saying and it is a blockbuster headline that highly classified information was disclosed and it took place last week as the president boasted to russian diplomats who were visiting the white house at the time. >> now, that classified intelligence reportedly came from a u.s. ally in the fight against isis. but administration officials are dismissing the story as false. abc's janai norman has the latest from washington. a busy morning there, janai. >> reporter: it sure is. good morning. at this point the white house is denying those reports which are just the latest in a string of controversies plaguing the trump administration. the bombshell allegations rocking the west wing. >> i was in the room.

>> reporter: national security adviser h.r. mcmaster denying "the washington post" report that president trump shared highly classified information during this meeting with russia's foreign minister and u.s. ambassador in the oval office. >> the story that came out tonight as reported is false. the president and the foreign minister reviewed a range of common threats to our two countries including threats to civil aviation. at no time, at no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed. >> reporter: according to "the post" the classified information about an isis plot is so sensitive not even other allies have access to it. that oval office meeting was already under scrutiny. it came just a day after the president suddenly fired fbi director james comey in less than a month after trump described u.s./russia relations at an all-time low. secretary of state rex tillerson who is also in the room saying they did not discuss source, meths

but no one at the white house specifically addressing the main allegation in the story that president trump revealed classified information and in doing so may have jeopardized critical intelligence sharing operations. >> that's really shocking. the suggestion that he might have shared highly classified information inappropriately with the russian foreign minister is deeply troubling. >> reporter: the story sounding alarms for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. >> the story is factual and it's developed further, that would be a very troubling development. >> if it's accurate it would be troubling. >> reporter: and as president trump has the power to declassify information, but still the leading democrat on the house intelligence committee is now asking intelligence leaders and the administration to brief the committee on what exactly was shared during that meeting. diane and kendis. >> oh, yeah, there's so many people asking for answers in this situation. we should point out and thank you, janai, the journalist who broke the story on the president is standing by his

100%. >> greg miller of "the washington post" pointed out that national security adviser h.r. mcmaster denied a claim that was not in the article but failed to address the specific allegation that the president divulged classified information. >> well, what he really says is that he -- trump did not discuss sources and methods and if you read our story we don't say that he did. we say that he discussed information that came from those sources and methods. so i think the white house in all of its statements today is playing word games and parsing. >> he said the president's staff would not have felt the need to alert the cia and the national security adviser if they weren't trying to contain the damage from that meeting. president trump in the meantime, says the search for a new fbi director is moving rapidly. the justice department is now considering about ten candidates to replace james comey. and the president plans to personally interview the finalists. in the meanwhile, lawmakers are calling on the president to turn over any recordings of his converti

to comey about those alleged tapes. for the first time since comey's departure we're hearing from the man who wrote a scathing memo initially used by the white house to justify the firing. the deputy attorney general rod rosenstein told a business group in baltimore that he's not worried about his reputation. >> i took an oath to preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the united states. there's nothing in that oath about my reputation. you ask me, one of the main problems in washington, d.c. is that everybody is so busy running around trying to protect their reputation instead of protecting the republic which is what we're supposed to be doing. >> rosenstein in baltimore overnight and scheduled to go before the entire senate on thursday in a closed briefing on comey's termination. so appeals court judges are deliberating whether the president's revised travel ban is biased against muslims. ug

it pointed to candidate donald trump's repeated pledge of a muslim ban but an administration attorney cautioned that judges shouldn't psych analyze what people meant on the campaign trail. it is likely to end up before the supreme court. security experts say there are clues linking that worldside cyberattack to north korea. an early version of the wannacry virus was similar to others that came out of north korea. it's possible they copied that earlier code. it hit hundreds of thousands of computers around the world. over in south korea we're hearing reports of a state visit to the u.s. the nation's new president will visit the white house next month amid growing worries over north korea's nuclear arsenal. it comes days after the north successfully tested a new missile that analysts believe could one day reach alaska. >> the u.s. is accusing the syrian government of trying to cover up mass executions. a state department says these photos actually show a crematorium where the

detainees that it hangs. as many as 50 people are allegedly hanged each day at a notorious prison outside of damascus. last year they used chemical weapons on civilians. time now for a look at the weather. a major storm system is slowly working its way across the northern u.s. from the pacific coast. residents of oregon, washington and that area in particular should expect a stormy commute this morning. overnight parts of the midwest were pounded by large hail and strong winds. severe thunderstorms also moved through. forecasters worn conditions are right for tornadoes today. you can see the funnel clouds spotted about 40 miles south of los angeles. rare for southern california but it was the second in the past few weeks. still ahead, how facial recognitio

this new surveillance video shows the moment a plane crashed in new jersey. a huge ball of fire could be seen as people run to try to get help. now, two people did die when that plane crashed into industrial area outside of new york city. the lear jet plane was heading from philadelphia to teterboro, a

new jersey. investigators say there was no indication of a problem before the crash. three buildings and dozens of cars were damaged. no one on the ground was hurt. this is video, though, of the plane from three years ago, the identities of the people on board have not been released as of yet but we know they were two crew members. witnesses say the impact shook nearby buildings. i saw a big flash and fireball and i run back inside. >> what was that sound like? >> boom and shook the building and everybody heard and saw what happened. >> investigators are looking into wind being a factor. there were 30-mile-per-hour gusts at the time of the crash and minutes before it happened another pilot reported wind shear when taking off from that airport. the fiancee of aaron hernandez is speaking publicly for the first time since his death. shanna jenkins hernandez told dr. phil he was upbeat during their last phone conversation and says she doesn

hernandez took his own life in a prison cell last month. >> he didn't inform me. yeah, indeed, aaron was deceased. i don't think this is a suicide. knowing him, he was very positive, so excited to come home. >> hernandez was serving a life sentence for a murder in 2013. he was found dead in his cell days after being acquitted of a double murder in a different case. there will be a lot more about his fiancee's comments coming up later on "good morning america." ford motor is reportedly set to announce a plan to cut 10% of its global workforce. "the wall street journal" reports the automaker is facing pressure from both its board of directors and shareholders as the company's profits sank 35% during the first quarter. you may soon be able to check your bag for a flight at the airport just by looking into a camera. delta air lines will soon test a baggage check-in machine at the minneapolis airport that uses

safetrack begins this morning. and with it-- several stations are now closed. maryland orange line riders are really going to feel the impact. every station from new carrollton to minnesota avenue is now closed for a month. if you use those stations -- look for shuttle buses to replace trains. but plan ahead... because those buses will only run every 30 minutes. those changes will be in effect until june 15th. right now-- a former delegate for president trump... facing decades in federal prison. caleb bailey pleaded guilty in federal court to having a bunker full of unregistered weapons as well as child porn.

now faces 27 years in prison. last year, law enforcement found an underground bunker with all these items. we're talking machine guns, explosives, recording devices, and child porn. police also say -- the 31-year-old told a 17-year-old to hide his computer and camera in the woods. sentencing is this fall, and bailey must now register as a sex offender. delta airlines is hoping some new technology will get you on your plane faster. the airline is now testing facial recognition technology as a way of speeding up passenger check-in times. delta says the system will match your identity to your passport photo. you can then tag your own bags, pay the fee and drop your luggage on a conveyor belt. delta plans to test the system in minneapolis this summer. the four-test kiosks cost the airline 600-thousand dollars. it's xx and we're just getting started. right now at 4:xx bombshell report! president trump
