>> announcer: from abc news, this is "world news now." >> good morning everybody on this wednesday. we'll start with the deadly weather on the move right now. at least two people have died, from the storm's pounding states from mexico to the canadian border. >> see the concentration of the storm. a fairly narrow band. some of the most severe cells over iowa, nebraska damaging storms and even tornados possible overnight. flooding and travel delays likely. >> one person died in elk city, oklahoma, panhandle there. where a tornado completely destroyed 40 homes. 75 others heavily damaged. some residents were trapped in the rubble. >> another fatality when a tornado hit a mobile home park in western wisconsin. about 40 miles north of au claire, dozens of trailers destroyed. >> i know there was walls on top

i would describe it as total destruction. there is a whole row where there should be trailers, nothing but debris. >> more than a dozen reported tornados touched down in texas panhandle alone. also heavy rain and large hail. some roofs and siding were torn off. power lines downed in texas. but there are no reports of injuries. >> we'll continue to keep an eye on overnight storms. want to move on to the other big breaking news. the white house once again in crisis mode following a report that the president tried to get former fbi director james comey to end the investigation into michael flynn. >> sources say comey wrote a memo aput that conversation, that allegedly took place the day after flynn, former national security adviser was forced to resign. now lawmakers are demanding answers, abc's kenneth motten has the latest. >> reporter: another stunning headline involving the trump white house. >> if true, this is yet another disturbing allegation that the president

some interference or obstruction of the investigation. >> abc news confirms a source close to fired fbi director james comey says comey wrote a memo in february detailing white house conversation with president trump. that source says in the memo, comey quoted the president saying flynn is a good guy. i hope you can let this go. "the new york times" first reported the memo part of a paper trail comey wanted to leave behind as evidence of what he called improper influence into his investigation. the white house is disputing the story in a statement." "the president has never asked mr. comey or anyone else to end end any investigation, including any investigation involving general flynn. this is not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation between the president and mr. comey." trump said comey was fired because "he wasn't doing a good job." but admitted the fbi investigation into russia played a role. members of congress reacting. jason chaffetz tweeted if the memo exists i need to see it

a transgender soldier convicted of leaking classified government materials expected to be released from a military hospital today. talking about chelsea manning, served seven years of the 35 year sentence which was commuted, you may recall by former president obama. her imprisonment longer than any case dealing with leaks in the u.s. former bradley manning admitted to uploading files. to wikileaks. a removal of a confederate area monument in new orleans started overnight. this one, honor, general pgt beauregard during the attack of fort sumter. which started of course the civil war. it is the third of four monuments. the city is planning to remove. the beauregard monument stood in a traffic circle there since 1915. >> if diamond are a girl's best friend. some one gained two bffs. anonymous buyer, set the record for most expensive earrings ever

a mosque near tampa. watch as the suspect pours some accelerant on the sidewalk and lights it on fire. the incident happened in february. police are releasing the video hoping the public can help them find that person. the fire was extinguished quickly. but the mosque did sustain damage. >> now to colorado where a school district briefly banned the book 13 reasons why after a string of suicide. critics say the novel and netflix series by the same name, romanticizes suicide. the order to remove the book came from a single school official. since has been put back on library shelves. after school officials read it and saw it wasn't as graphic and sensationalized as the netflix series. >> 12 children in houston injured. >> firefighters were called to the school after a ball of fire quickly got out of control. abc's phillip mena at the scene. >> reporter: children carried off. rushed away. to nearby ambulances and awaiting parents.
