place in a place like this. president trump closing in on announcing his pick for head of the fbi. one of the front runners, a familiar name, former vice presidential candidate joe lieberman who ran with al gore and president trump is preparing for hi first intertrip as we've been saying heading to saudi arabia first. he's also reacting to the appointment of a special counsel calling it a quote, witchhunt. our chief white house correspondent jon karl asked him about it and joins us now from washington. good morning, jon. >> reporter: good morning, robin. as the president prepares to head overseas he hoping to turn the page. with his first foreign trip hours away, a new headache for president trump. the appointment of a special counsel to investigate russian meddling in the campaign. >> your reaction to

did anything to ask him to pull back. how comey r larry: we welcome in our viewers on abc 7. there is an amide is that has been stolen and prince george's county. let's get back out to suzanne kennedy on the phone -- there is an ambulance that has been stolen. still trailing this caravan of police cars? suzanne: it seems like the caravan has gotten off of route in the headed direction of tucker road. this starting to develop around 6:30 this morning, when we were covering a fatal hit-and-run. we noticed and emily's heading southbound on 210. then a a few minutes later prince george's county police, maryland state police, and a helicopter were heading southbound as well as we made some calls to learn that the ambulance had been stolen from prince george's county hospital. authorities pursued it southbound

minutes, the ambulance came back northbound on the roadway here. bothwere being trailed by prince george's county police and maryland state police. an african-american male driver. we also noticed that the entire been hundredes had or flattened in some way. the ambulance is traveling no faster than 20 miles an hour. as this pursuit was happening in northbound 210. we did see in the roadway a few blocks further northbound that there were treads left. ofwell as the smell burning rubber. we followed for a few minutes watching the slow pursuit which was about a quarter of a mile ahead of where we were. then got into heavy traffic and it appears as if the ambulance has peeled off on one one of the side roads off of 210. we are in the process of looking for this activity. as soon as we find out more infoat

ad a v8. the original way to fuel your day. good morning, washington, i'm melanie hastings, we're following breaking news, an ambulance stolen from prince george's county hospital. that theft was reported after 6:00 this morning. our cameras were there as police caught up to it and began chasing. this is on route 210 in maryland. at one point the tires of the ambulance were flat but that ambulance kept on rolling. ten minutes ago we have confirmed that police have stopped the ambulance and taken the suspect into custody. we have a crew on the scene and we will bring you more developments shortly. happening this morning, a firefighter recovering following a massive blaze that tore through a home on college park. students from the university of maryland were forced to run from the flame. the cause of that

hills station. that waslance, 830 taken from that location at around 6:00 this morning. that ambulance headed south on initially on 210. then authorities began pursuing it that way and then the ambulance did an about-face headed northbound on 210. it was being led and trailed by both prince george's county police and the maryland state police and prince george's county police helicopter. at some point, that ambulance turned off northbound 210 onto one of the side roads. then headed over into the area now where where they been able to stop it. they did deploy stop sticks and/or this the ago ended up with some flat tires. that slowed it down tremendously. but this ends about an hour and change after it started. one person has been taken into police custody in regard to this stolen ambulance. larry: thanks. we will talk to in a bit. get over to julie

place where it ended. the ambulance to the left, the one with the door open. that is the one that was stolen around 6:00 this morning. you can see that the tires are literally down to the rims. there is no rubber left on those tires. that us the way they ultimately got it to start but what you can't see us on the other side of the other ambulance that is here, that ambulance, the stolen one hit a cruiser and that's how they got to it stop here in the area of allentown road and old branch avenue. there is a huge police presence here, the sheriff's department, prince george's county police, maryland state police, all of them participating in this activity that has lasted for about an hour and a half. we first noticed it as we were out on 210. we saw the ambulance. that very one right there, number 8 30. we saw it heading southbound on 210. we called in. we learned that the police were headed that way and very soon after that, we

be by ground and by helicopter in pursuit of that ambulance. we then saw that ambulance quickly turn around and head back northbound on 210. at some point and we're not sure when it headed eastbound and that is where it ended here. one person this custody but this incident ending within about an hour and 25 minutes here branch venue. larry: let's get a check of our traffic with julian assange. julie: very much a busy morning. like suzanne was saying, this activity is south of route 5 and branch avenue. so branch avenue remains open. allentown road is blocked off there at camp springs, maryland with all of that activity and there is a number of it out there. and of course, the media rolling up there too. so you'll want to avoid this area.

we are back with a closer look at teens and tech. according to one report the average american teen spins nine hours a day on screens and for boys especially that means video games. "20/20" anchor elizabeth vargas here with one boy's story. his parents had to treat him to the wilderness for treatment. >> unbelievable step the family was forced to take. thr three-quarters of them are playing on video games. he dropped out of school so he would have more time for gaming leaving his parents desperate for help. 14-year-old josh can't stop playing video games. what's a typical day in josh's life? >> sleeping in till 11:00, 12:00 then he would be on till like 1:00, 2:00 in the morning. >> reporter: his parents say he's up playing 60 hours a week. often

suzanne. we now know that that opulence is stolen from the landover hills station. take a look behind me. you can see that they have it loaded up onto a flatbed truck. you can see there that they are just removing it from the 6300 block of allentown road appeared near old branch avenue. this is where it all came to an end about and a half an hour or 45 minutes ago. the opulence actually stolen around 6 o'clock this morning. it went south onto tent and came back onto 10. then headed eastward into the neighborhood where it is right now. the suspect got out of the vehicle and attempted to run away. authorities were able to capture him in less than three minutes.right now again the opulence is been removed from the scene and traffic should be flowing smoothly fairly soon. angela foster is keeping an eye on traffic elsewhere. she's tiny by with the details. period think you so much suzanne. as you mentioned until

following breaking news. one person is in custody for allegedly stealing and opulence from prince george's county hospital. let's get straight out to suzanne kennedy right now. suzanne? >> melanie, chief just wrapped up the conference here. he hasn't invited the person who allegedly stalled the opulence as william person. the police found him last night he had partly been injured. he was acting erratically. they took him to prince george's hospital center and when he was

when he had access to the opulence then he allegedly installed it around six clock this morning we have video to show you of this low-speed chase of that opulence. it was on northbound to 10 peer this was around 6:40 a.m. this morning. he initially headed southbound onto 10 then at the charles county sprint prince george's county line he turned around and that is when stop sticks were deployed in effort to plot the tires of that ambulance. that was successful and it slow down the vehicle to the point that ultimately they were able to box and on in the 6 to 300 block of allentown road. he has now been taken to the hospital. we are watching the situation and we are keeping our eye on the traffic elsewhere. >> suzanne, we are be
