sending sparks flying. tonight we learned william person the man that police say was behind the wheel has a long criminal history including assault and weapons charges. police say that the man had been taken to the hospital overnight when he was discharged. they say he found the running ambulance, jumped in and took off. he is back in custody. jonathan: we have video that shows yesterday's event in times square was no accident. he makes a u-turn and plows through the crowd. one person killed and two dozen more hurt and the man behind the wheel was mentally ill and had smoked marijuana laced with p.c.p. the only thing that stopped him were the barriers. >> he goes underneath the scaffold. part of his car. the side view mirror. license plate falling off as he is striking pedestrians. people are being

the brave whitewater rafters in the middle of a colorado snowstorm. they are actually rafting guides. it turns out this is part of the spring training. they completed that trip in a storm that dumped six inches, yes, six inches of snow in hours. that looks like grueling work. >> they were thinking spring training i'm sure they were thinking sunshine, pine trees and a lovely day. not that. michelle: not so much. doug: part of the high country in colorado said picked up three feet of snow. incredible. michelle: in may? doug: yes. jonathan: in california they will ski until the fourth of july. doug: we have been watching storms. give you a live look right now from the camera in chantilly, the udvar-hazy center. on the horizon you see the rain showers in the distance. there have been a number of storms. we have a brand new severe warning for west, central montgomery county. in effect until 7:00. winds could gust up to 60 miles per
