are rating other houses to find anyone who might have links to the attack. >> the priority is to establish whether he was acting alone. >> it started as a joyous night for 20,000 music fans, many of them younger than 10 years old, but it ended in terror. oh my gosh. >> as pop superstar arianna grande was wrapping up her concert, an explosion rocking the jampacked manchester arena. teens and mostly their parents, frantically climbing over seats and railings trying to get to safety. >> everybody was running, panicking, shouting. we could see bodies on the floor, outside and in the arena. crews, rushing to the scene to help the injured. officials say nearly two dozen are dead and nearly 60 injured, hundreds covered in blood and shrapnel.

help. there are dozens if not hundreds of similar messages posted across social media just like that, and then you have pictures of primarily young girls who were at this concert, some with adults, others with groups of friends. this young girls mother took to the airwaves this morning in the u.k., pleading for help finding saying that social media is playing a huge part in that. then you have polymer robinson, presumably a mother at the concert with teen -- she says, please repost. many of those kids have been taken to a nearby holiday inn. several other stories just like this, and we are going to continue to hear stories of heroes who took care of people and victims after the explosion. then youwe are working togethert information. in the meantime, the national crime agency in the u.k. is asking people not to share pictures but rather upload them if they have pictures before, during, or after the explosion.

lot of heavy hearts inside the xfinity center as people remember their classmate, richard collins, who was murdered just three days ago. richard collins was supposed to be in that line walking across that stage, but his classmates are making sure he is not forgotten. they are wearing the letters rip richard on their caps in his honor. i want to take you to some video we saw a short time ago. collins families members -- c here,' family members are and across from them is a chair with a graduation gown draped over the top of it. many classmates are telling us they are still in shock from all of this, and we state held a moment of silence for the 23-year-old who days before -- bowie state held a moment of silence for the 23-year-old.

chances really start to jump up. let's talk about numbers. it is cool with cloudy skies and winds coming off the ocean. the warm spot locally, reagan national at 67. frederick at 64, the same reading in baltimore. for the afternoon, we will keeping our eyes on doppler, a couple sprinkles, very light showers, but a lot of this will fall apart before it gets to the metro area. heavier rain is well to our south east, and then we are looking well to our south and west, as the next big batch of rain crosses into georgia and farther south and west. we think it will be early evening before that rain develops, and some of that could be briefly heavy. upper 60's in most areas. we might get a glint of sunshine through the clouds. it's one of those days where you can see the clouds, but still sunny. -- you can still see the sun, but still cloudy.

threatening to shoot his wife. when officers arrived, they were met by gunfire. a short time later, a fire broke out inside that home. a woman and her 10-year-old daughter were able to run out to safety, and the suspect involved was later found dead. it is unclear how he died. mindsa race to save the of those who sacrificed their lives for hours. the shepherds half marathon celebrates with those who are suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder. we were there as people run for a cause. >> a group of men and women are working to raise awareness for veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury and other military deployment-related issues. these are the men and women of shepherds men. the group includes 17 active and retired servicemen and women.

each day, the group will run just over 13 miles. according to shepherds men, one out of every five service members who return from deployment either suffer from ptsd or traumatic brain injury. as a result, 22 veterans take their lives everyday. >> i run for that veteran who was in the same place i was. , they're feeling alone, and i want them to know they are supported, that we love them, we need them, and we are here for them. i run for families like mine. >> this is the fourth year for this event. they are hoping to raise more than $2 million. the event will conclude in atlanta on memorial day. suzanne kennedy, abc 7 news. lindsey: weather-wise, it was a pretty good morning to go running. doug: temperatures, comfortable. more showers coming in this afternoon.

steadier rain comes in. rain could be an issue during the game. more on that this afternoon. let me tell you what we have for the afternoon. we will take a gander down the beaches. thereloudy and cool, but is good news for the beach forecast, maryland, delaware . temperatures will be warmer, into the 70's. it's only 50 degrees as the off theme directly atlantic ocean. temperatures hold in the low to mid 60's. 63 right now at washington dulles. 66 degrees in fredericksburg. there will be a few light showers and sprinkles, especially western areas. later tonight, we will feel the effects of this system.

some of this is an inevitability, i would ask the people allow us to work with the coroner and those families and ensure that they are properly supported before we release the of those who have sadly lost their lives. as you would expect, the police response across manchester has been significant as we help people to continue to go about their daily business and lead their lives here in greater manchester. this response has seen the arrest of a 23-year-old man in connection with the attack, and we have carried out two warrants. us in follow field did see complete a controlled explosion. doings something we were to gain safe access and is nothing to be concerned about. we understand that feelings are very raw right now, and people are bound to be looking at us for answers. more than ever, it is vital

lindsey: just to summarize, manchester police just held a news conference, again identifying the name of the suicide bomber, 22-year-old salman abedi. they also carried out to search warrants, and in one of those locations, they mentioned they carry out a controlled explosion. tonight in manchester, there will be a vigil at 6:00. we will be back in just a moment.

doug: here is the way it looks over the next few days. rain is likely. tomorrow, showers, 74 degrees. thursday, still mild. thunderstorms are added to the mix, and as we go through late thursday, it looks like skies will clear. friday, breezy and warm. we will be in the mid-70's. we have had memorial days here. saturday, a dry day. that is our best bet as far as a day with storms.
