nancy: for a brief time the sun is out but we are tracking more showers on the way. stormwatch7's chief meteorologist doug hill with the forecast. a lot of people are starting to head out of town early. doug: they are. this is getting to be a busier and a busier rush hour the thursday night before memorial day. after the few hours of sun that got you in the mood, yeah, summer, weekend, and thunderstorms and rain and all that stuff. this is coming back. this is what we are looking at. here is the d.c. metro area. we are looking south of warrenton. winchester. far back of the mountains of i-81 and the woodstock areas. numerous thunderstorms developing. as they head knot east, some of them are stronger. many areas will get the downpours. this cluster we are tracking for you. manchester at 4:29 will come in the area. 4:52 to make it to fairfax. 5:26. that is an hour and a half before the patch get to the d.c. metro to coincide with thursday afternoon rush hour. this is

they will soon start walking the drug dogs through the high school hallways. >> we are working closely to monitor that and make sure that the trend is not brought inside the school buildings. >> the program is set to begin in the coming weeks and will be conducted after hours when the students are not present. it's no substitute for parental guidance on drugs but a way to keep kids safe. >> we want families to have the conversations that are important in the homes first. we work closely with the law enforcement and our school resource officers in the building daily to make sure that the students have a positive relationship in connection with them and they are aware of the danger of the use of illegal substances. >> parents have mixed reviews. >> i'm not sure if it's helpful or a good use of resources. once you identify there are drugs in a specific setting how do you figure out who they belong

the resources invested in that is not worthwhile. >> i think we should keep the kids active in other ways, healthy ways. so if this is a way to find other avenues for having a good healthy time, then that would be great. alison: right now the search is on for two men who robbed an armored truck outside of bb&t bank in laurel. this happened at 12:30. it's right there on main street. police say the men were dressed in black. they were masks and they had rifles. they left the scene in a black four-door car with paper tag and tinted windows. jonathan: new at 4:00, the body of a man found dead in a welfare check this morning in washington. this is 9000 block of mill street. police are treating this as a murder investigation. a crew is headed to the scene. we will have an update when we have more information available. >> just in the federal appeals court inic

jonathan: this is a time honored tradition at arlington national cemetery. alison: a thousand soldiers placing flags at each headstone for memorial day. jonathan: richard reeve is there for us. nancy: this is a poignant sighted to see, rich. richard: yeah. this is a labor of love. hundreds of thousands of the american flags planted at arlington national cemetery. it's truly an honorable way to remember the fallen. >> honoring the fallen. >> the seasonals -- soldiers call it flag in. soldier to soldier. grave to grave. they plant the american plans as a way to honor and remember. 284,000 headstones. some bleached whi f

the red, white, blue. tradition that dates back to 1948, before korea, vietnam, iraq and afghanistan. it begins with a silent march. the small flags tucked in the back packs before the member of the group called the old guard fan out. 1,000 soldiers will complete the task. this quiet vigil in four hours. moving up and down the roads of arlington this time honored garden of stone give the men and women the time to con template the fallen. for staff sergeant jason cohen from indiana, this is the fourth time he has taken part in flags in. a duty that is very personal. >> i try to read every head steeped see what their life would have been liked. you see when they were born and died and the wars they served in and think how different it is compared to my time in afghanistan.

an infection. she got from the see lion's mouth. it's called seal's finger. it can be tricky to treat because it's resistant to many antibiotics. jonathan: yikes! traffic cameras catch everything. they do. including this in ohio. look to the distance. you you saw lightning and the clouds coming down. that would be what is called a tornado forming. it dances around upstairs before drowning down. this has to touch down to be qualified as a tornado. nancy: video here that is fish across a flooded sidewalk. that is not a river. this has caused the mississippi river to go over the bank. alison: the hurricane season is expected to be a

this is near washington dulles near the udvar-hazy center. the sky conditions are looking cloudy to the west. you can see the edges of the storms in the distance. we have an eye on them. this is possible. some of the cells could reach close to severe levels but right now they are still well west. the metro washington. approaching from the south. lightning and across the potomac. we have more south of warrenton and i-81 corridor. this band is moving north/northeast. affected in the next 45 minutes to an hour. the heavy rain is about to move to southern maryland. the next batch again is intense. that shows sign of holding strength and getting stronger. steve rudin is out in the vienna area in stormtrak7 and keeping an eyes on the sky and how the storminess could effect the people bumper to bumper with you. what are you seeing? steve: it's

in stormtrak7, doug. we are continuing to make our way due west on 66. show you what is going on ahead of us. onto the metro stop. the skies are growing darker and darker. we notice a bigger difference through the next 20 minutes or so. we are moving toward the west. you can see the clouds beginning to develop. we will scan the skies a little bit here to show you what is going on. traffic, wow, bumper to bumper out here. at least right now. but the roadways, they are dry. there will be bigger changes on the way. they will track storms moving northeast and east. we have head back inside for more on that with chief meteorologist doug hill. doug: thank you. we are tracking an area west of the metro area. according to the speed and the direction it look like gainesville in the next five minutes. manchester at 4:23. reston at 5:00. to the

now the must-see video from milwaukee. a woman pumping her gas. a guy jumps in her car. trying to take her car. they just did this. she did something to try to stop them. we have incredible video. melissa smith on the south side of milwaukee pumping gas. everything is normal until after she begins. a stolen cad lack with four teens comes around and the door opens. one of the teens jumps out and jumps in to melissa's car. she realized what is happening. and says not so fast. >> i didn't see him until i saw him get in the car. someone was in my car. they had my -- i had a this isn't happening to me moment. >> he laughed at me. which really irritated me. >> she jumps on the hood.

jonathan: the campus is taking the steps to prevent the hate crimes and the other violent acts on campus. abc7 maryland bureau chief brad bell has a new action plan. brad: yesterday, at the university of maryland, as hundreds gathered and marched to remember the black bowie state student slain on the college park campus by a white maryland student some took to twitter under the #feartheturtle to share their idea of hate on campus. >> they should verbalize and use social media. brad: verbalize they did with name calling and worse. we showed some of the tweets at

president. >> these are difficult times around the country. brad: he is responding to a five-point action plan and he is creating a rapid response team for the hate-based incidents spending $100 no support diversity, demanding a yearly report on the incidents working to prevent the hate based action and symbols at the sporting event and establishing a task force to review campus policies. >> we will own our own campus. we own the values that define the campus and define us as a nation. >> for the actual murder of richard collins iii on campus. my sources are telling me that the investigation has yet to turn up any evidence that this was a hate-based crime. additionally multiple sources are telling me that the suspect sean urbanski told police he was drinking for about 12 straight hours and does not remember what happened at this bus stop. police are now waiting for the results of the blood test.

it was early this morning that the 16th century replica made its way under the wilson bridge returning here to old town again for the next five days. you, too, can get a close up look of this incredible tall ship. now el galeón is a full-size reconstructed spanish sailing vessel that is one used for the colonial times. the biggest differentiation between this and a regular sailboat is the hoisting the main mass and the sail. it would take 16 to 17 crew member. on a regular sailboat it may only take two or three. we talked to a crew member for
