street. tonight a warning from the police chief. reckless disregard for human life won't be tolerated the chief said and police will find you. ryan hughes talked to the victim's ex-girlfriend. she's live with her plea for the shooters to turn themselves in. just heartbreaking to hear from her, ryan. ryan: it is, kimberly. and d.c. police are still on the scene. they tell me this all happened while a group of people gathered outside this apartment building when shots were fired. eight people were hit. one man was killed. that victim's ex-girlfriend said he just moved from las vegas to help take care of his young daughter. tonight, she is pleading for the people responsible to turn themselves in. >> you have to turn yourself in because my daughter has to live with that as well as i do. >> the father of her 10-year-old

daughter was shot multiple times. police found him unconscious on he ground. >> evidence markers littered the ground on the 100 block of q street. d.c. police said seven other people were also shot around 1:00 this morning. many of the victims drove themselves to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. >> i ducked down because i thought they were closer than i thought they were. i thought it could have been me. ryan: neighbors tell us a group of people were outside hanging out and then chaos. >> and it's just so loud. i could just hear people running and screaming. ryan: d.c. police are investigating a motive and trying to track down the two men responsible for this deadly shooting. >>
