a desperate search for the shooters who fired into a crowd, killing one man and hurting several others. a warning from the police chief -- the two gunmen will be found, the chief says, because " reckless disregard for human life won't be tolerated." police say 32-year-old algernon jones was shot several times around 1:00 this morning on q street. jones's girlfriend and mother of his 10-year-old daughter is pleading for the shooters to turn themselves in. >> if you do have a heart, you will turn yourself in. my daughter has to live for that -- live with that for the rest of her life, as well as i do. kimberly: bullets also hit cars and one lodged in an apartment building. many victims suffered nonlife threatening injuries and drove themselves to the hospital. new at 11:00, a disturbing situation in alexandria, and they are standing up to hate. this morning, people woke up to find posters with

promoting rice supremacy. tonight, there are new, much different signs posted. to polls, trees, and windshield wipers, more than 50 hate posters filled with racist slogans and anti-media questions later parts of del ray in alexandria. >> people are astounded something like this could happen here. like i said, we take a serious effort in making sure everyone is included. sam: the posters went up around the public library on commonwealth avenue, one sign reading "around blacks, never relax." by the evening hours, the del ray community came together just across the street from the library and put up their own signs. ray,one saying "we are del we are all colors, we are not afraid to go further down the street, more signs sending a strong message. >> we have a very responsive community.

seriously. sam: alexandria police echoing that message. they confirm with us an investigation into who posted these papers is underway. >> it has made the message stronger, that we are inclusive and hate is not who we are. i don't think they are going to gain any traction. sam: in del ray, alexandria, sam sweeney, abc 7 news area -- abc 7 news. kimberly: park police hope someone saw something after a news was found hanging in the her turn park gardens. they do not know how long it was there before an officer noticed that on friday. park police want anyone of information to come forward. in oregon, investigators believe the deadly stabbing of two people in portland was a hate crime. two men were stabbed to death friday night on a train as they helped a muslim woman. witnesses say jeremy christian shouted anti-muslim slurs. the woman and a third person who intervened were also injured.

police arrested 42-year-old andrew kottke. challenges against him are pending. the fbi has ruled out terrorism. there was no impact to flight operations, and the investigation continues. crews are cleaning up after a chemical spill shut down a laurel shopping center. prince george's county police are trying to figure out how a tanker truck with a corrosive chemical started leaking. sam sweeney has more. in massive emergency response this afternoon at the crystal plaza shopping center in laurel. more than 3000 gallons of a highly corrosive chemical leaked from a tanker truck parked in the shopping center. the first 911 calls came in around 2:30 this afternoon. someone noticed a crack and leak in the truck. at first it was unclear what the chemical was, but emergency responders quickly learned it was eric chloride -- ferric chloride, a highly corrosive chemical used in water treatment plant. prince george's county fires as
