shake-up in the face of the russian investigation and his family. the private attorney one of many trump hired to handle the russia investigation seen talking with ivanka trump at the white house. her husband, presidential adviser jared kushner, under scrutiny but not the target of the fbi investigation. sources say kushner tried to set up a seek back channel with the russian ambassador to the u.s. even after intelligence agencies found russia tried to meddle in the election. >> there ought to be a review of his security clearance to find out whether he was truthful, whether he was candid. if not then there's no way he can maintain that kind of a clearance. >> reporter: a frustrated president tweeted calling leaks coming out of the white house fabricated lies made up by the fake news media and spoke with "the new york times" reportedly saying, quote, jared is doing a great job for the country. i have total confidence in him. >> look, i think jared has said that he's more than willing to answer any and all questions. >> reporter: trump's focus his overseas trip calling

[ speaking a foreign language ] >> reporter: telling her country the times when we could completely count on others are over. the chancellor's remarks came after president trump criticized germany's trade policies at the g7. this week expected to be a crucial one for the white house as the president works to control the negative headlines in this investigation into russia. >> a lot of people are saying corey lewandowski's former campaign manager might be returning to the white house. north korea is sparking concern around the world after defiantly firing another missile. the ninth test this year. >> u.s. officials say this time it appears to be a short-range scud missile. it flew 280 miles before landing in the sea of japan. >> north korea has been trying to develop a long-range missile that could reach the united states. the defense secretary says everyone is threatened. >>

investigators in southern california now say this brush fire was started by a weed whacker. about 55 acres burned in los angeles forcing some homes to be evacuated. fire officials say it started when a weed whacker being used near flammable materials overheated. an investigation is under way into what went wrong in a memorial weekend skydiving event that killed a navy s.e.a.l. the s.e.a.l. plung

rescue crews managed to pull him out but he died less than an hour later. the region's naval commander says the community has lost a true patriot and hearts and prayers go out to his family. police outside jackson arrested a man accused of killing eight people including a sheriff's deputy. investigators say 35-year-old kori godbolt first got into an argument with his estranged wife and her family and say that set him off and say he then pulled out a gun, opened fire killing three women. the sheriff's deputy you see had responded. he was killed as well as four other people in two neighboring homes. godbolt in handcuffs after his arrest telling a reporter suicide by cop was his intention but he ran out of bullets. we're learning new details on the stabbings of three good samaritans who came to the aid of a young woman being harassed on a portland train. now police say a suspected white supremacist 35-year-old jeremy christian went on an anti-muslim

to try to calm him down, that's when christian allegedly stabbed all of them. >> he told us to go back to saudi arabia. he told us that we shouldn't be here and to get out of his country. this white male from the back of us came and he was like, you can't disrespect these young ladies. then they just all started arguing. >> wow, well, two of the victims passed away. the third is in serious condition. police say christian has a known criminal history as well as extremist views. a new video now, a florida man is facing trespassing charges as this appears to show him unplugging a bounce house. police in port st. lucie, florida, say he unplugged it while kids were playing inside. the children all under the age of 3 had to be rescued after that bounce house then collapsed. now, the man claims he was actually just trying to unplug the party's sound system. quite a story. a missing woman in washington state has been found alive after apparently crashing her car

the zoo in perth, australia, it captures a moment an orangutan mother climbed out of her enclosure to save her son which had fallen into a garden. the incident promised a brief evacuation of zoo visitors as you can imagine but mom successfully retrieved her 5-year-old son and returned to her own enclosure. a canadian couple has quite the proposal story to tell this morning but not the one they planned. christine peters said yes when her boyfriend popped the question midhot air balloon flight. but then the balloon started descending a little too fast. the pilot said brace for an emergency landing and it crashed into two different trees before finally crashing onto a field. lucky for them the most serious injury was a broken fingernail. the happy couple says the whole experience was, quote, awesome. >> one way to put it. mine would be terrifying. >> awesome. from terrifying, awesome to a frightening crash at the indy
