>> now abc 7 news at noon on your side. >> we begin this noon with the latest on capitol hill. the senate intelligence committee is set to hold two highly anticipated hearings with top intel officials about that russian probe. the main event is tomorrow with fired f.b.i. director james comey expected to testify. e want to know will you watch? go to wjla.com. we head to the newsroom where sam sweeney is breaking down what's happening on the hill. sam: the top chiefs of the intelligence community are

hearing. this hearing has been underway for two hours and the intel chiefs are being very tight-lipped, unwilling to answer a good majority of the questions related to their conversations with the president. these are live pictures right now coming in from capitol hill. both the directors of the national intelligence agency and the national security agency say they never felt pressure from the president to intervene into investigations into russian meddling. dan coats, the director of national intelligence did say, however, he would address certain specific questions in a closed hearing. the lack of answers from all four men has been frustrating on republicans, democrats and even independents. let's listen to one of those interactions. >> i'm not satisfied with i do not believe it's appropriate or i do not feel i should answer. i want to understand the legal basis. you swore that oath to tell

nothing but the truth and today you are refusing to do so. what's the legal basis for your refusal to testify to this committee? >> i'm not sure i have a legal basis but i'm more than willing to sit before this committee and during its investigative process in a closed session and answer your questions. >> and a closed hearing is scheduled for later on this afternoon but it remains unclear if these men will discuss private conversations with the president even in that closed setting. we'll have to wait and see. in the newsroom, i'm sam sweeney, abc 7 news. amber: thanks for the update, sam. overseas, terror striking again, this time twin attacks on iran's capital, leashing at least a dozen people dead. the attacks began when the gunmen stormed the parliament building in dehran and one of the assailants blew himself inside the building. the suicide bomber and another attacker targeted a shrine inside the capital and all

another 42 were wounded and isis has claimed responsibility. today we are seeing the moments a hammer-wielding man attacks police officers in paris yesterday. those officers were patroling in front of the notre dame cathedral there in paris. while the police officers fired shots at the suspect, one officer was slightly injured in the assault, while no group claimed responsibility, investigators say while searching his home, they found a declaration of allegiance to the islamic state group. well, closer to home here, two maryland high school students gunned down the night before graduation. and right now police are still trying to figure out who fired the fatal shots and why. suzanne kennedy has the very latest now from montgomery county. suzanne: i talked with contacts here at the police department this morning and they tell me montgomery county detectives have had a productive 24 hours but they aren't yet ready to release details on a possible suspect or a motive in this case.

artem ziberov were shot to death in najjar's honda parked in a montgomery village neighborhood. the car idling and windows shot out. neighbors reported hearing gunfire. the teens were to graduate on tuesday. they told their parents when they went out monday night that they were going to sell some extra graduation tickets. their friends and families are now left mourning their deaths. >> why would somebody kill my boy, my beautiful boy two days before graduation? as a father, i need to know what's happened to my son. why somebody shot him, what did he do wrong? >> supposed to be a day to remember for your life for good reasons and this just is very upsetting to hear about, the situation that happened last night. >> it just was not something you'd ever expect from them. you never expect to see them on the news for something like this. they probably were just minding their own business and really scary. suzanne: ziberov's birthday is

old and was to attend the university of maryland at college park. he was an eagle scout. najjar was an honor role student going to attend montgomery college and transfer to the university of maryland. his funeral is scheduled for later today. in gaithersburg, suzanne kennedy, abc 7 news. adriana: back to the anticipation on capitol hill. fired f.b.i. director james comey set to appear tomorrow. here's abc's stephanie ramos with this story. stephanie: today as president trump heads to ohio to talk infrastructure, in washington lawmakers are grilling top national security and law enforcement officials about the foreign intelligence servileance act but the investigation into russian interference came up almost immediately. >> each of you here today we all know have taken an oath to defend the constitution. stephanie: "the washington post" is reporting the director of national intelligence, dan coats, said trump asked him to get former f.b.i

comey to back off on the investigation into former national security advisor michael flynn and russia. >> any attempt by the white house or even the president himself to exploit this community as a tool for political purposes is deeply, deeply troubling. >> i've never been pressured, i've never felt pressure to intervene. stephanie: the main event is slated for tomorrow when comey testifies before the senate. comey is expected to talk about his conversations with president trump who allegedly asked comey to end the investigation into trump campaign ties to russia. >> he had told me in general terms that the president is uncomfortable with me because he asked for loyalty and i told him i could only give him honesty. stephanie: in a new "washington post"/abc news poll, a 56% majority of u.s. adults say trump is interfering with such investigations rather than cooperating, while 61% say trump fired

rather than for the good of the country. the president is said to be blaming attorney general jeff sessions decision to recuse himself on russia for many of their current problems. when asked by a reporter if he'll resign, the a.g. says -- >> no. stephanie: on the eve of james comey's testimony, president trump tweets he's nominating chris wray to be the new director. he's a former senior justice department official. stephanie ramos, abc news, washington. adriana: a firefighter reporting after he fell through a floor battling a house fire in reston. john gonzalez is at the scene where crews are dousing those hot spots. john: at the height of this there were a hundred fire fax county firefighters in greenbriar court in reston. right now they're keeping about three fire trucks and crews here at the scene because hot spots continue to flare up. now, during this there was one firefighter

hospital because the floor, the main floor of this town home collapsed. that firefighter ended up falling all the way to the basement of the home. he was taken to the hospital, treated, we've been told he has been released. suffered serious but nonlife-threatening injuries. now, the cause of this fire is still under investigation. firefighters have gone in with ladders and shovels to try to sift through the debris and make a clear path for some of the fire investigators to go inside and try to determine where this fire started and what exactly caused it. >> the line was being stretched in by one of our engine companies and one of the firefighters on that hand line actually fell through the floor. it was reported to command and that firefighter was quickly rescued. >> they arrived a short time later after receiving that dreadful phone call. we did get a chance to talk to them off camera. they were visibley distraught and very upset. the woman telling me they were not doing well. they

is back on the stand today. lindsey: it was arguably the post anticipated moment of the trial. andrea constand walking into the courtroom where she gave a tearful testimony. >> we're proud of her for containing her composure. lindsey: the former temple university employee testified what she says happened in 2004 at cosby's pennsylvania home. she says she saw cosby as a mentor and when he gave her three blue pills to ease her stress she took them but quickly started feeling dizzy. i was trying to get my hands or legs to move, she said but i was frozen. constand said cosby sexually assaulted her and wanted it to stop as she cried on the stand. cosby, who said their encounter was consensual, sat stoically from her testimony until one point she got graphic and he bega

head in disagreement. constand's attorney said she was amazed at her composure and doesn't think inaccuracies in her story are problematic. >> do you think it will be problematic with the inaccuracies in her statement? >> i was a prosecutor for a long time and it's not uncommon. police officers and lawyers and judges make mistakes. we all do. lindsey: and another high profile trial is underway in massachusetts. as a woman is facing manslaughter charges for encouraging her boyfriend to commit suicide. prosecutors say 20-year-old michelle carter was texting 18-year-old conrad roy iii in 201, convincing him to take his life. the two exchanged text messages as roy locked himself in his truck, killing himself, using carbon monoxide poisoning. carter also ordered roy back into the truck when he had second thoughts. >> it was the defendant who

listened for 20 minutes as he cried in pain, took his last breath and died. >> the defense argued carter tried before to talk roy out of harming himself and blames her behavior on her depression medication and say even if somebody supports another individual in suicide, it does not make that a homicide. must-see video of a bear breaking into a apartment in colorado. once inls that bear takes his time sniffing around the place and taking a peek inside and then has a little bit of fun. that bear pounced on the piano before making its way out. no one was at home at the time thank goodness and that bear has not been seen or heard from since. >> that was an apartment so we're assuming that's a ground floor apartment or the bear took the elevator. adrianna: or has a key to get in. he's wondering around like he knows the place.
