this morning on "world news now," comey in the spotlight. the former fbi director testifies before congress about his one-on-one conversations with the president. we have new reaction from a trump lawyer, plus see how people across the country are settling in for the tv spectacle. >> plus the showdown on capitol hill. senators with tough questions for the nation's top intelligence officials. all of them though, refusing to say whether or not president trump had asked them to intervene in comey's russia investigation. >> and new this half-hour, we are going courtside at nba finals. >> yes we are, game three. turning into an epic nail biter with lebron james, battling hard to keep his kingdom from crumbling. we'll have a full wrap-up including preview of the upcoming do or die game four.

"the skinny." >> we'll start things off with anticipation building as the country waits to hear directly from former fbi director james comey. >> comey's appearance on capitol hill its hours away. take a look at this, some bars in washington, d.c. and beyond are opening early to capitalize on testimony. like this one. offering russian vodka flavors and fbi sandwiches. yes. >> what is an fbi sandwich? >> curious what is in it. there are some on the west coast opening extra early as well. the senate intelligence committee released comey's prepared remarks. comey describes several conversations with president trump that he found to be uncomfortable. >> in one meeting, comey documented that he said the president told him, quote, i need loyalty, i expect loyalty. comey says, quote, i didn't move, speak, or change my facial expression in any way during the awkward silence that followed. we simply looked at each other in silence. toward the end of the dinner, comey says the president returned to the question of loyalty, saying i need loyalty to which comey replied, you will always get honesty from me. the president paused and said

that's what i want, honest loyalty. comey paused and said, you'll get that from me. >> in addition to the request for loyalty, comey says the president asked him to drop any investigation into former security adviser michael flynn. and he assured the president he was not under investigation. and the president told comey the russian investigation was a cloud that impaired his ability to do his job. so, president trump's personal attorney is praise all of that testimony saying the president feels completely, completely and totally vindicated, comey confirmed the president is not under investigation. >> others pointed out conversation maze have been unusual, inappropriate, not illegal.

him as well. as the "the washington post" reported. >> i have never been pressured. never felt pressure to, to intervene or interfere in any way and shape, with shaping intelligence and in a political way or, or in relationship. on going investigation. >> law makers then pressing further. asking not whether they felt pressured, but simply did the president ask them to intervene? >> we have press reports of not once, but twice, that the president of the united states asked you to either downplay the russian investigation or to directly intervene with, director comey. can you set the record straight about what happened or didn't happen? >> confidential conversations between the president and myself, i don't believe it's appropriate for me to address that in a public session. >> other conversations. not about flynn, this time about possible collusion with the

and he represented new jersey governor chris christy in the so-called bridgegate scandal. could be weeks before a senate committee considers his nomination and in cincinnati the president plugged his plans for rebuilding america's infrastructure. he promised a first-class system of roads, bridges and waterways. a white house proposal would fund improvements with $200 billion in public funds. >> former friend of the woman accused of pressuring her boy friend to commit suicide took the stand wednesday saying she admitted to being on the phone with him when he died. according to testimony. michelle carter text aid classmate saying the carbon monoxide death was her fault. adding i could have stopped him but i told him to get back in the car. she allegedly texted another classmate saying, i heard him die. the defense had said, supporting someone in a suicide does not create a homicide. >> parts of the central and southern florida can expect more rain today. those areas are waterlogged from a week of rain but could see flooding with up to 4 inches of

diane. now what? we now have the golden state warriors up 3-0. in the finals. and there is no team in any round of any nba playoffs. that has ever come back from 3-0 down to win a series. so, i know it is lebron james, and i know -- how, how -- quite frankly, great he its. but this is not the same warriors team that we have seen the past two years. because they added a key ingredient. and that is kevin durant. kevin durant is, is, has been one of the top two, three, four, five players, the past five plus years in the league. in fact it was kevin durant who actually sank a bucket of three pointer, late in the game, that put the warriors on top and they did not look back from that.
