know this was the hottest seat in the country on capitol hill. people started to line up at 12:30 this morning for a seat inside the briefing room. a lot didn't get the seat so they decided to go find a bar to have a watch party. some places were giving free drinks if the president tweeted in the testimony but it never happened. >> the atmosphere was electric. the sidewalk packed. crowded to capacity. so many people came here because they want to share an experience they hoped would be historic. >> the line stretched down the block. >> so unique d.c. thing to do to watch a senate hearing on tv in a bar. >> so many people

did i miss something? or did comey said he asked a friend to leak information to the press? is this a joke? senator chris van hollen chimed in saying comey hearings reveal a disturbing pattern by the president. expectation of the loyalty to trump not the constitution. another major take away from the hearing that is getting play on social media is what the democratic senator jeff merkley calls the quote of the day. jonathan: it has been a busy day on the capitol. in fact, the lawmakers are starting to react to the testimony given from the fired f.b.i. director james comey. the national correspondent is breaking down an admission made in the testimony that is raising eyebrows with the senators. >> former f.b.i. director james comey testified he leaked the memo shortly after he was fired. >> did you show copies of your memos to anyone outside of the department of justice? >> yes. >> he said he decided to share the con tens after trump tweeted this cryptic message. james comey better hope there are no tapes of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press. comey gave a copy of the notes to a good friend, a columbia law professor who shared it with a reporter hoping to get a special council to investigate the -- special con sell to investigate the

many hearings over the years. want to give you an idea of some of the hearings right now. don't have to go far back. hillary clinton testified before a house select committee for 11 hours about the benghazi attack. in 1991 the hearing for supreme court judge. in 1987 it was the oliver north senate testimony on the iran contra scandal. then there was the watergate scandal. and when the hunt for communist came to an end that was a pointiant moment when the lawyer joseph welch asked have you no sense of decency, sir? that came out in a very heated confirmation hearing on the hill. a lot of dma
