19-year-old tim piazza died after falling down a flighted of stairs following a night of heavy drinking. surveillance video from that night was shown in court today. a detective who investigated the case said he already looked dead as the frat members carried him upstairs the next morning. they are accused of waiting 12 hours before calling for help. michelle: police in montgomery county hope these pictures will help crack a 25-year-old murder case. they don't know who this guy is or even have a name but new technology gave them these pictures from just a blood sample. maryland bureau chief brad bell explains. brad: this may look like the face of a killer who has eluded capture for 25 years. an image gleaned from analysis of d.n.a. blood found at the scene of a murder using a new process that zeros in on physical traits. used for the first time by montgomery county police. >> so instead of treating d.n.a.

rich? richard: yeah. she was sitting in her car like i am here at tulip at the intersection here when a group of young girls came over. they approached and they asked where the metro is. in the meantime one of the girls went behind the car and started to open up the rear passenger door to try to grab the woman's purse. another girl right here grabbed the stun gun and starts hitting the woman and hitting her with the stun gun. we have video to show you of the neighborhood. this is a very quiet area here. a lot of adults and children walking to school and work. in fact, the woman had just dropped off her kids at a daycare nearby. police say a witness jumped in to help. the girls took off. one of them was caught immediately. four others were hiding around a shed three blocks away. a k9 unit tracked them down. >> according to my teachers who ran out when they heard her, that she was screaming and trying to fight back

afterwards it -- assailabouts. afterword it hit her that she was frightened by what happened. richard: the woman is shaken up but no major injuries. at least five girls are now in custody and they face assault charges. coming up at 6:00, you will hear from a woman who came to her aid seconds after this happened. reporting live, richard reeve, abc7 news. alison: thank you for that. a man and a woman were found dead in vienna. police now believe their deaths were part of a murder-suicide. police found 47-year-old sabrina titus stabbed in her home. she later died at the hospital. a half mile away her ex-husband 53-year-old ralph titus' body was found, an apparent suicide. the couple had two children. they will be cared for by extended family members. two people died in a three-car crash in fauquier county. another person was hurt in this. this happened this morning in

remington. the accidents caused one car to burst into flame and killing the people inside. a third person was flown to the hospital. michelle: a soldier from maryland among three dead in afghanistan where an afghan military member opened fire on his supposed allies. sergeant eric houck from baltimore and two other americans died saturday. houck was 25 years old. authorities in manchester are releasing the new images in connection with the manchester arena bombing. three of the photos show salman abedi, the suicide bomber in a different location just days before that attack. police are hoping someone remembers seeing abedi and will have information about what he was doing. another shows a white nissan micro that may have the bomb components in it. they want to hear from people who may have seen it or seen people approaching it. alison: an eyewitness put a man behind bars for

two decades but he always insisted he was innocent. then it was discovered he had a look alike. it happened to a man in missouri. so, what finally freed him? adrian bankart shows us how it all played out. reporter: this morning a man who says he was wrongfully convicted, imprisoned for 17 years now free after tracking down his own doppelganger. >> i hope and prayed every day for this day to come. overwhelming feeling. >> jones was charged with aggravated robbery in kansas city, kansas, 20 years ago, accused of trying to steal a park. he had an alibi and no d.n.a., fingerprints linked him to the crime. witnesses telling the police it was a light skinned african-american or hispanic man. picking him out of a line-up.

michelle: a warning for police in prince george's county tonight. as the tents go up, so does crime. ryan hughes checked in with the police department and they are seeing a surge of auto thefts. >> look out for the gold chevy impala. ryan: the morning calls with a roll call to get overview of what happened overnight. this shows some of the biggest crime issues. theft from autos. >> the weather is starting to get warm. we have noticed a jump in our theft from autos. ryan: the department is seeing a surge. more than 2300 theft from vehicle cases this year. that is

abc7 rode along with officer jones as the department aggressively works to combat the car break-ins. around 7:55, the first call comes in for theft on seat pleasant drive. officer jones talks to the victim who said he accidently left the window down and door unlocked. his radio, work, clothes, papers all stolen. >> processing the handle there where you can see a thumbprint. it could have been from anyone but we'll pull that. ryan: the thefts are mostly happening overnight. crooks smashing out windows, popping locks and like this case, they are making themselves an easy target. >> most of the time the values are left out in the open. from wallets to laptops. jewelry. even change. >> the thefts are happening so fast. within a matter of seconds. the best way to prevent them is be proactive. that is why the department is cracking down. prince george's county police are adding more patrols on the street and educating the public. >>
