this morning. adrianna: as you can imagine, this was an absolute mess for everyone trying to get to work. sam sweeney caught up with the drivers and continues our team coverage. as suzannes, mentioned, the traffic was backed up not only on the beltway but on surrounding streets and highways. this is eisenhower avenue. the route is reopened, but the traffic continues and it has been like this for hours as people try to find an alternate route to work. we caught up with some of these drivers, many of whom were stuck for 2, 3, even four hours. >> it's crazy. we have been sitting here for three hours in gridlock. there are fire trucks going past. people are backing up and getting off the ramp. it has been crazy on morning.

>> i have been here since 5:15 a.m. it is stressful. >> a very long morning for a lot of drivers indeed. the cause of the crash still remains under investigation. in alexandria, sam sweeney, abc 7 news. adrianna: happening today, a hearing for the man who pleaded guilty to a deadly shooting in montgomeryr county. today's hearing in prince george's county concerns the murder of his wife last may in beltsville. abc 7 has just learned he entered a guilty plea in that case as well. we will have more on that story coming up at 4:00. developments concerning alleged grade fixing in prince george's county schools to boost graduation rates. governor larry hogan spent -- sent two letters yesterday to the school board to investigate possible wrongdoing.

this noon, aviation investigators are trying to pinpoint the problem that caused an air asia flight to start shaking violently, forcing an emergency landing. it happened sunday as the plane th for malaysia. the pilot asked passengers to begin praying for their own safety. passengers say they felt the blast in the left engine and then the flight shuddered like a washing machine. the good news is no one was hurt. at least nine people are dead after a tourist boat capsized in columbia.
