also this noon, the senate health care bill is on life support and we may know its fate before the july 4 recess. lana zach is following the latest from capitol hill. lana: at this hour president prumple is meeting with one of the vocal critics, republican rand paul, the white house trying so hard to right what they see is a ship that may be sinking. >> i won't vote to proceed unless the bill changes. lana: today the senate republican health care bill seems to be on life support. >> how you put this together and get to 50 will be tough and the c.b.o. score doesn't help any. lana: with the democrats in opposition, they only can afford to lose two votes but six republicans are on record saying they can't support this bill. some republicans are taking their opposition one step further, threatening to present it from being debated on the senate floor and susanne collins defeating i want to work with my g.o.p. and dem colleagues to fix the flaws.

i will vote know on m.t.p., short for motion to proceed. it's a necessary step before the bill could even be considered. democrats taking to the capitol steps in protest. >> i tell you right now, this crazy, evil bill, it's not about going together, it's about leaving people behind. lana: the nonpartisan c.b.o. score reports two million americans will become uninsured under this plan and 15 million more uninsured next year alone. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell plans to push through vote this week. >> unless we act more americans will feel trapped to buy insurance but left without the means to actually do so. lana: even though things look bad for the republican bill at the moment, house leader paul ryan cautions no one should bet against mcconnell, in his words, and vice president pence is

offensive, inviting wavering g.o.p. senators to dinner tonight. reporting live, lana zach, back to you. adrianna: developing now, the white house says the syrian government may be preparing for a chemical weapons attack. the government says there are activities similar to those that happened before april's chemical attack on a rebel held town. three days after that attack, the u.s. military launched a missile strike on a syrian air base. the white house says that the syrian regime uses chemical weapons again, it will, quote, pay a heavy price. and in just 48 hours, the state department will begin implementing part of president donald trump's travel ban. in a 6-3 decision monday the supreme court allowed part of the ban to go in effect. the ban restricts travel from six muslim majority countries and the president is calling that partial win a victory and democrats say it unfairly targets muslims. also on the hill today the

infrastructure committee will vote on a bill giving new protections to bumped passengers. in short, it will ban involuntary bumping if a passenger is already on an airplane and won't put a cap on how much money a passenger can get if bumped before boarding. if it passes it would go for a full vote in the house and senate. and now an update, one person is dead after an early morning crash in suitland. police say just before 2:00 this morning a car drove off silver hill road, crashing into a utility pole. the scene is clear now, all roads are open and petco crews were there most of the morning working on repairs there. also another update to yesterday's crash on the beltway that stopped traffic for more than four hours. we're now getting a clearer picture of what exactly happened. police are saying a woman pulled her car over, she was then rear-ended by a pickup truck. she got out of that car, walked into traffic, and was hit and

she has not been identified just yet. happening right now in the district, the department of motor vehicle is making history for the first time d.c. residents can now choose to have an x on their driver's license rather than an m or f. d.c. is the first in the nation to take this step in transgender rights. sam sweeney has this story. sam: this is a big day for the transgender community. people began lining up outside of this d.m.v. on benefiting road well before the doors even opened and wanted to be the first in line to get the gender neutral x on their 50eud -- their identification or driver's license. for 14 years nick waited for this day. nick: i got here at 4:45 in the morning and i really wanted to get here to be the first person in the u.s. to apply for non binary gender neutral driver's license. >> by 7:00 a.m. he was joined by others who don't identify as man or

hey, doug. doug: hey, adrianna. it's very comfortable today and will be tomorrow and thursday and friday and into next week will be very hot and humid weather. very hot out there looking at chesapeake bay at the beach, temperatures in the mid 70's, around the rest of the year 79 at noon in warrenton and 78 in culpepper and 73 in hagerstown and 77 at the air station and 75 degrees in annapolis. plenty of sunshine and a few periods of cloudiness and the atmosphere coming through may trigger an isolated shower especially east and south of the city this afternoon but otherwise a comfortable day and turning cooler tonight. see if we can pick up anything on radar and satellite. most of the activity in pennsylvania moving northeast. we'll monitor these areas here in the appalachians and maybe a couple showers could develop in that region later this afternoon. temperatures tomorrow morning are going to be cool, comfortably cool, 52 in germantown and manassas and 52 in fairfax and

and 60 in the city. tomorrow we're back to full sunshine and low humidity and highs 83 but the 90's come back with a vengeance thursday and friday and the next 10 days through the fourth of july we'll talk about in eight minutes. adrianna: july 4 is a week away and the best way to enjoy it is safely. that's why a fireworks demonstration was held on the national mall to get you ready. susanne kennedy is there and has this story. susanne: we're one week away from the fourth of july and that means a lot of people will have their own personal fireworks display. this morning the consumer products safety commission issued an annual warning about the dangers of improperly using these explosive devices. according to the cpsc, more than 11,000 people were injured or treated in u.s. emergency rooms and four died as a result of direct impact from fireworks. children younger than 5

footage of a bus crash in detroit that happened in may. police say the teenager was speeding and crashed into the bus. that set off a chain reaction with the bus careening into a brick wall. five people including the driver were in that bus. they were all hurt but they did survive. >> go ahead, honey. o ahead. adrianna: the heart stopping fall in new york, the teenager dropping more than 25 feet into a waiting crowd below. well, this is what police are saying now. it was her own actions, not mechanical issues, that caused her to slip under a restraining bar. the girl whose name has not been released was not seriously hurt. and now to new orleans where police say they've arrested one of the men wanted for a vicious attack in the french quarter. police said the victims who were visiting from boston were walking back to their hotel saturday night when they were

police are promising to hunt down the three others in the video. the victims are expected to be ok and one of them is still in the hospital this morning. right now crews in california are dealing with two new powerful and fast-growing wildfires. a traffic accident sparked one of them 80 miles east of los angeles. the other has forced nearly 200 people from their homes near san lewiso business bow. -- san luis obispo. 1,500 people have been evacuated from brian head resort as the nation's biggest wildfire has grown to 72 square miles. from mistrial to new trial, the stage for bill cosby's next trial shifts to california. there will be a hearing in santa monica to set a trial date in lawsuits accusing him of sexually assaulting a teenager more than 40 years ago. judy husk claims cosby took advantage of her at the

afternoon in the next three hours or so a couple showers could pop up and over the mountains or blue ridge and head east towards the metro area and see if that actually happens. satellite showing there are some healthy cumulous clouds building up and what this model says around 2:30 or three a band of rain will move through the area and that will be that. whether it happens or not, 40% chance, 30% chance maybe, we'll see. i do know areawide will clear out tonight as we get a swing in the wind direction and bring reinforced dry air and cooler air in the region overnight. so much so the temperatures will take a bit of a fall tonight into the 50's in most areas. tomorrow, beautiful, sunshine, 83, low humidity. heat and humidity return, friday 94 degrees and lots of humidity through the weekend. check out these numbers along with chances of thunderstorms saturday afternoon and again sunday. 93 and 90 and early next week the numbers get even higher here as we go into the mid 0's for a couple days and by the fourth right
