usual pal trolls on indian head road. driver is dead after report of another vehicle weaverring through the traffic before the crash. the second of the three deadly crashes in prince george's county in less than 24 hours. melissa dipane is live at one of the scenes in brandywine. melissa: it was a busy 14 hours for the first responders in this part of princess george's county, well -- prince george's county well known for the crashes. a fatal motorcycle accident just before 9:00 last night on route 5 north of brandywine road in accokeek. police say the rider gerald stockton lost control of the motorcycle, drove on to a grassy median and flew off the bike. he was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. ten minutes later nine miles away 67-year-old james hill was turning the minivan to the indian head highway when he was hit and killed by a speeding forc

a third car hit the ford. the driver suffered non-life threatening injuries. >> there were witnesses saying a group of three or four vehicles traveling at the high rate of speed, driving recklessly. >> the third crash happened before 11:00 at brandywine road at gibbbons church road. >> left the road and burst to flames. an officer was on the scene in a minute and he attempted to put out the flames with the good samaritans. they were mildly successful until the fire department showed up and they put out all the flames. at that point the occupant was declared dead. >> three fatal crashes so close in proximity in an area known for crashes. >> we are constantly down there writing citations. melissa: the p.g. county police say despite the recent fatalities the car accident deaths are down from 30 packet --

nancy: that is not far from another case that killed people. two cars were racing when one lost control and hit a crowd of people that gathered to watch. alison: safety is key when it comes to the july 4th celebrations across the area. today, d.c. announced steps to make sure that everyone on and off the national mall has a good time and stays safe. d.c. bureau chief sam ford live in northwest with the plans. sam? sam: yes, alison. the mayor, police chief, the fire chief all gathered here specifically to talk safety about what to do on this long fourth of july weekend. d.c. on fourth will have three parades. but a session here they talked about the do's and the don't's of the fourth of july around the city. while the fourth of july in d.c. is about the fireworks display on the mall and the big parades, the city officials today were fo

home. they were showing the proper grilling techniques. keep it ten feet from buildings. it's illegal on balconies. the fire marshal looked at fireworks, things that shoot skyward or go boom or pop are illegal. there are 40 certified fireworks stands out of the city. we visited some. >> we sell legal fireworks that the cone is on the ground and shoots a shower up. the larger the cone, the bigger the display. >> chief says to be aware of the sparklers. >> they are not to be in the hands of kids. they burn at 2,000 degrees. that is hotter than a blow torch. >> some fireworks are legal in d.c. but not in maryland. there are d.c. stands on the border. so y'all trying to get maryland customers? >> not so much maryland customers. we are just trying to get customers, you know? sam: city officials admit there will be legal and

before the gunman killed himself. police say dr. henry bello walk around the hospital wearing a lab coat with a rifle hidden underneath it. a former employee at the hospital. one woman killed. six other people were shot. and he, the gunman, killed himself. we will keep you posted as we get more information in the newsroom. nancy: find out when text alerts break. sign up at wjla.com. developing now, infant left on the doorstep of a house in annapolis. people are asking why? brianne carter is live at annapolis police station near where the child was abandoned. brianne? brianne: well, nancy, right now we are outside of the home where we now know that the baby was found. take a look here. just here on this porch. just off of forest drive here in annapolis where the authorities say that that newborn was found. 14-year-old maluk carroll who lives here walked

front door and saw the baby on his porch. the baby wrapped in a black jacket. he was not crying at the time but he grabbed the baby and brought him inside. his brother called 911. his mother trying to console the child. his father is a well-known member of the community and runs a church in the area as well. pastor carroll doesn't believe he knows the mother and isn't sure if the connection to the community is why the baby was left here. >> i think it was a young woman, going through a lot. was probably scared when she had the child. probably left it. she probably knew my father was a pastor. he is in the community a lot. a lot of people know him. probably why she dropped it off. brianne: they do not believe they may know the mother of the child. the police are searching for mother. concerns tonight for her well-being and concerned she may need medical attention or the victim of a crime. they are reminding people that maryland

international hotel was back in court today. brian moles drove from his pennsylvania home to the district with a military-style rifle and he pled not guilty in the first court appearance and was ordered to have a mental evaluation. larry: there are new -- alison: new developments regarding the deadliest wildfire in tennessee history. the two teens accused of starting the fire in november are now free. prosecutors say they couldn't prove the teens were responsible for the fire. because of other fires like high winds. the fires kill 14 people and injured 130 others and damaged more than 1700 buildings. nancy: today crews started to demolish what is left of an apartment building that was vacant when it caught fair in april. it was an accident but once it's torn down the plan to rebuild.

jonathan: i'm jonathan elias at the "live desk." we have dramatic video out of california, the moments after a small plane crashed on the busiest freeway in the country. the twin engine cessna dropped out of the sky before crashing to the interstate 405. this was just short of the runway at john wayne airport in santa ana, california. the investigators say the pilots did declare an emergency after the plane took off. trying to get to the airport when the plane went down. a man and woman were on board and being treated as traumatic injuries. folks who saw the cr

raced to the airplane to try to help the people out of that airplane. this video is difficult to watch. we'll keep you posted. nancy: changes to v.r.e. when they arrive at a station, they will have to get off and then get back on. this is as the trains are getting more crowded so may want to make sure everyone who wants to get off a train is able to do so. once everyone is back on the train is when it will leave the station. alison: well, at least next week is light for commuters as people celebrate the july 4th holiday. if you are spending vacation time on a boat, make sure you are staying safe. maryland bureau chief brad bell spoke with the natural resources police laying out the safety tips you need to know. brad: last year on the waters

fishing with buddies when a severe weather outbreak flipped the boat. his body wasn't found for months. one of nine who died on the river last year. his wife has not fully recovered. >> there are no words to express. i want to get this out. brad: they are preaching safety on the water. >> i urge everyone to be safe. really think it through before you head out on the water. you are priceless. brad: the natural resources police and coast guard will focus on the seemingly placid potomac with patrols but they can't be everywhere. so they are urging personal responsibility starting with the flotation devices. life jackets. natural resource police and the coast guard say you can do everything right. you can be wearing the life jacket like she is.

mazda cars. they will reach out to the owners on august 21. alison: new developments tonight with an arrest in the morning's deadly shooting in springfield. our northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg is life where this happened. this started with a fight. jeff: yeah, a disagreement inside of a pool hall. there is an active crime scene here. you can see broken glass outside of the pet value pet store. that is where the murder suspect busted in. that is where they found him not long after finding the body of the murder victim a few hundred feet behind the pet store. late today the police sources confirming to us this was a stabbing. crime scene tape is unexpected sight for shoppers at the springfield plaza. a murder, they say, is unheard of. >> scary. jeff: just after 2:00, this morning, the fairfax county police got a call of

lying on a ground behind fast eddie's fool hall. he was suffering from severe injuries to his upper body. 29-year-old kieron hart of springfield later died in an area hospital. while investigating the crime scene police got another call about a burglary at the pet value store. a few hundred feet behind the pool hall. inside the store, they found 30-year-old jay from springfield. >> they were having a debate. maybe heated debate. >> the co-owner of the fast eddies was not there last night but says jay is a known regular and so was kieron hart. >> they are hard broken over all of this. >> at fast eddies the staff and the cust

a woman may have given birth to the shaquille o'neal of newborns. when waylon was born may 1 he weighed 16 pounds. nancy: wow! alison: 16 pounds! nancy: wow! alison: 24 1/2 inches long. he is the ig biggest baby ever to be delivered at the shank medical center and he is home now after spending seven weeks in the nicu. he now weighs 17 pound and seven ounces. nancy: the best part of that is the shot he had of the toddler brother in one arm. and then him in the other. he is the same size as his big brother. 16 pounds. alison: the father said everyone there thought the scale was broken. they weighed him like three different times thinking this can't be right. nancy: they look at the chubby cheeks, okay, maybe. alison: goodness. i don't know how we move on from that. let's talk about the weather. nancy: what is the latest forecast, doug? doug:
