taken into custody. nancy: skytrak7 over the scene where montgomery, frederick and howard counties converge. kevin lewis is live at penn shop road in maryland 27. kevin, police are saying this all started in a serial burglary investigation? kevin: that's right. the suspects were driving a white cargo van. you can see the cargo van parked in a driveway a hundred yards from where we are starting now. the front driver's side window appearing to be shattered. as investigators explain it. the howard county repeat offender unit was surveying the individuals earlier today. they followed them to a neighborhood a mile from here. they actually witnessed them burglarize a home. when a number of officers attempted to stop the cargo van at this intersection, the male driver reportedly rammed a squad car and drove toward three officers that were out on foot. two of the of

in jessup, richard reeve, abc7 news. alison: a tragic find in gaithersburg yesterday morning. a 4-month-old girl unconscious in a van. she would later die. today police are trying to get to the bottom of how this could have happened. q mccray is in gaithersburg with the developments in the investigation. q? q: we have been hard at work. we contacted the montgomery county homicide unit, the county health department services department as well as management at the motel 6 and the baby's family. we know now that the baby was with her family at the motel 6 when she passed away yesterday. we have a picture to show you now. 4 months old. beautiful baby girl. her name brooklyn ruth irby. her parents and her grandfather spoke exclusively to abc7 news. they told me they hit hard times recently and are homeless and were raising brooklyn in a van parked here stat the

orchard road in gaithersburg. it was yesterday at 10:30 in the morning when brooklyn got sick. they dialed 911. by the time the paramedics arrived she had stopped breathing. >> she tried to talk and tried to grab your hand. i have never seen her cry. she was that good of a baby. she was always laughing and trying to talk. she did everything. q: now that was the baby's grandfather. he is upset today with montgomery county's crisis center. they blame the center for the baby's death. according to grand dad the mom and the baby applied for housing. some help from the center twice and were denied twice. i reached out to the center today. there is only so much they can tell us because of the patient privacy laws but they told me they are investigating the allegations and will have more inr

brad: it started off routine. the hearing was a bond review required by law. a judge has to determine if someone should stay locked up. there wasn't much question that the accused murderer was going to be held without bond. but what happened after the judge declared that order, that with us unusual. it's alleged that 38-year-old navar beverly joked his stepfather to death in his bowie home. boasted that he had done it. and then posted a photo of himself with his deceased victim on twitter before leading police on six-mile chase. the judge ordered beverly held without bond. that is when beverly
