a daughter allegedly killing her own mother and then herself inside of their home in mclean. ryan hughes spent the day talking with neighbors rattled by this crime. ryan, they all have the same question we do. ryan: that's right, kimberly, they want to know what led to the shooting. more than 24 hours later, detectives are still going in and out of the home, the crime scene tape lining the property. neighbors say that pamela hargan moved in here about two years ago with her daughter and young granddaughter. a second daughter moved in monday. they say that she is the one who shot her mother, then herself. >> it simply shocking. but it happened. shakenongtime residents up after their upscale neighborhood turns into a crime scene. >> cannot imagine what goes through somebody's head to do some

fairfax county police worked through the night and into this afternoon. crime scene tape blocking off the home where they say that helen hargan shot and killed her mother, pamela hargan, then shot and killed herself. neighbors have been wondering what happened ever since 2 p.m. friday. that is when the police received a call that somebody may have been killed in the 6700 block of dean drive. when the police when inside, they found the two bodies. >> is horrifying to happen across the street from your house. ryan: neighbors say that pamela's daughter and granddaughter had just moved out. another daughter that many do not know about moved in. now a tragedy in the neighborhood is coming together. >> we are ready to help out if they need us, help them go through this, make sure they are ok. ryan: the police reassure neighbors the seven-year-old girl was not h

safe with her mother. also noty's dogs were hurt, but no motive as to why this happened. the case remains under investigation. ryan hughes, abc 7 news. 6:00, we haveat been telling you about the illegal atv's, mopeds, and dirt bikes and the surrounding areas. d.c. police still have 98 persons of interest. so far they have confiscated , and today8 atv's they shared what they do with the illegal off-road vehicles. they took them to a recycled metal yard and capitol heights. they say these were left abandoned, unregistered, or the owners did not claim them. they created more than 14,000 pounds of recyclable metal. chief peter newsham said we hope those illegally operating these vehicles will see t
