we have the slow movers again today. we have been watching the area closer to the district moving in the prince george's county diminish before your eyes. one is best of the washington dulles diminishing, too. that is the nature to rain themselves off. we will zoom in close now. this is the area from lanham, westward to the d.c. line. good rains now. you can see the intensity is diminishing. the one that blew through washington dulles with hail. that has the heavy downpours but that, too, will move to the west/southwest to diminish in the evening. the big story is the feels like temperature. 102 in quantico. the rain showers in washington cooled us off to 85. but this is the steam heat going forward for five days. check out the temperature trend. these are not the heat index values. these are air temperatures. 96, 96 tomorrow and thursday. 99 on friday and saturday. 97 on sunday. that, my friends, is a heatwave. we will check out the weekend and ten days looking for cooler tem

minutes. michelle: thank you, doug. chipotle in sterling shut the doors after a number of the people report getting sick after eating there. alison: sound familiar? we learned that the chipotle on route 7 will not reopen today. so what caused the illnesses? >> jeff goldberg with the latest. jeff: the moment the customers find out why the sterling location is closed. >> you're kidding. >> scary. jeff: many turn around leave shaking their heads. >> disappointed. i like chipotle. >> very disturbing. jeff chipotle voluntarily shut down the restaurant on monday after multiple people commented on the website iwaspoisoned.com. saying they were sick with fever, nausea and vomiting after eating at the sterling location. some vows to never again return. >> i don't know if i'll come back. >> i won't be back. >> my kids eat it, too. not worth it. c

the loudoun county health officials to understand the cause and resolve the situation as quickly as possible. the company says the symptoms are consistent with norovirus but, "norovirus did not come from our food supply and it is safe to eat at chipotle." less than two years ago an e. coli outbreak at chipotle led to temporary closing of all locations nationwide. followed soon after by a noro-virus case in boston. >> i don't know how they will bounce back for it again. >> i have to find some place else to go. >> many disappointed customers came here. jersey mike's sandwich shop a few doors down. >> we are a very busy restaurant but getting an extra business, you know, the first part of the week is great. jeff: the loudoun county health department has no confirmed cases of norovirus connected to the chipotle but the county is helping the employees fully clean the restaurant and get it ready to reopen tomorrow. in sterling, jeff goldberg, abc7

alison: republican efforts to repeal and replace obamacare appear dead for the time being. hours after a billion replacing the affordable care act failed to garner enough support to pass a plan to simply repeal the 2010 law met the same fate. president trump: for seven years i have been hearing repeal and replace in congress, hearing it loud and strong. when we get a chance to repeal and replace, they don't take advantage of it. alison: mitch mcconnell says there will still be a repeal vote, "sometime in the near future." so with the healthcare bill most likely dead congress is coming under greater scrutiny today. there were big promises. but so far there is it will to show for all the talk. who is to blame? can they avoid being called another do-nothing congress? chief political correspondent scott thuman is in the news rom to explain. scott? scott: good question. republican, president trump and the -- remember, president trump and the congress set a hi

michelle: homeowners are watching after a sinkhole swallowed two homes. several others are

dinger as well. we learned that it's likely this mess could have been avoided by the former homeowner. >> the option they chose that they went out to find somebody to provide for them did not address what was going on with the sinkhole. it did not fix it in any fashion. we see the result of that. michelle: apparently the option was cheaper which is why many assumed they chose it. at the time the engineers recommended stabilizing the growing sinkhole with filler. the contractor who did repairs now said it incorrectly told the county it had stabilize the sinkhole. alison: new developments of the police shooting in minneapolis. we know the identity of the officer who shoot and killed justine damond. mohamed noor who joined the force two years ago. damond cammed 911 to -- called 911 to report a po

in the alley behind her home. when noor and his partner arrived she went out to talk to them and at some point noor shot and killed her. >> our hearts are broken. we are devastated by the loss of justine. alison: noor and the other officer did not turn on the body cameras. in a statement noor offered condolences to the family. michelle: well, he survived the same flooding that killed nine people in arizona. next the emotional story and how even his dog made it out alive. >> a new connection from crystal city to get to the airport that doesn't require a bus, train or car. we'll explain up next.

a bus, train or use a bike to get there. a new connection to the airport using your own two feet. the crystal city business improvement district is looking for proposals for a pedestrian link from chris tool city to reagan international. >> get everything moving. brianne: while the location of the crossing is still up for consideration the goal is to better connect the airport and the metro station to the neighborhood. this comes the same time that the construction is underway to upgrade the airport. as v.r.e. is looking to update its rail station. trevor moved to crystal city to be closer to work. >> it would be fine. i would use it if it's there but it's not important to me. brianne: avery smith in crystal city says when he needs to get to the

-- arizona flooding. michelle: that he had a presence of mind to film himself after surviving something like that but it brings to light the fact when there are the warning of flash flooding take it seriously. alison: so many extremes now and we are about to go to the extreme heat. doug: the desert of arizona, monsoon season sometimes can be torrential rain and the soil can't hold the water. it's awful. here, the heat is the story. we have had heatwaves this summer. this one coming up, the last last -- the worst of it will last through sunday. it will be tough. get through it and we promise -- i can't promise. i never do that. but i can promise you we will take a look at the computer model guidance that is strongly suggesting the noticeably cooler weather by the middle of next week. a good starting point here. we check out the doppler radar. most of the activity storm wise and the rain wise over the west. we have showers we have been monitoring. this area originated 25 to 30 minutes ago was

the portion of this is disintegrating. the area near washington dulles is heavy. but it will diminish yesterday. the same thing happened yesterday and will repeat tomorrow but i can't tell you the exact spots they will form up. the same pattern. feels like 102 in quantico. feels like 93 in frederick. washington got cooling rains. it's muggy. but the air temperatures are drop and now it feels like 85. the forecast through the evening. mostly clear but muggy. hazy, too. 68 to 75. the temperatures by morning. notice the wind speed is light. the winds aren't only light at the surface, but if you go up a couple thousand feet in the atmosphere they are light as well. that is why we see storms popping up and move slowly. we get through the next few days and we expect no shortage of heat. these are the forecast air temperatures. 96 and 96 for wednesday and thursday. 99 on friday. 30% chance of storms on wednesday. then thursday and friday probably in the scattered variety late
