on one chat at the g-20 summit. and sources say it lasted for nearly an hour. we have the latest. good morning to you. >> good morning. a lot of moving parts. so let's try to keep up. a new report about a previously undisclosed meeting between presidents trump and putin has the white house pushing back and trump taking to twitter to defend himself. >> reporter: it was one of the most highly-anticipated moments of trump's presidency so far. his first face-to-face meeting with the man accused of interfering in an american election. a handshake, followed by a two-hour private meeting at the g-20 summit in germany earlier this month. but now a new report that trump and putin met again, on the sidelines of this official dinner, talking for an hour, and relying on putin's translator, has the white house pushing back against accusations they failed to disclose the details. >> never in my life as a political scientist have i seen two countries, major countries

with a constellation of national interests that are as disnants while the two leaders seem to be doing everything possible to make nice nice and be close to each other. that's what people don't understand. >> reporter: in a statement, one official said that trump spoke with many leaders that night, that he spoke with putin only briefly and called the interaction perfectly normal, as part of the president's duties. on twitter last night, president trump slammed the report as fake news, accusing the reporters of making the dinner look sinister. now while the white house did confirm that meeting, they're not commenting about how long or about what the two leaders talked. all this as probes continue into possible collusion between the trump campaign and russian officials during the 2016 election. >> a lot of details unfolding right before our eyes on the russia investigation. what's the latest? >> we now know that we might actually see the president's son, donald trump jr. and his former campaign manager, that's

paul manafort, face some tough questions of their own. when it comes to a meeting they took last year with a russian attorney and some others. the top democrat on the senate judiciary committee has said that both men have been cleared to actually testify in an open hearing by the special counsel, robert mueller. some are concerned that the details of that meeting have trickled out over time, and they only did so because reporters continued to dig. so right now there are still a lot of questions. no firm date on when that hearing is just yet. >> we'll spare you the questions about which thong song you prefer, the new one or the original one. but thank you for answering the questions about what's going on in d.c. >> happy to. in the meantime, senate republicans are heading to the white house today for lunch after the collapse of their latest effort to repeal and replace obamacare. >> majority leader mitch mcconnell plans to hold a vote next week on a repeal-only bill, but three republican senators have already said they'll vote

against tehran. the sanctions came after trump decide against saying they were violating the deal. he says they violate the spirit of the agreement. the wife of a princeton grad student sent to prison in week in iran says his punishment is unjust. wang received a ten-year sentence sunday. prosecutors say he was directly guided by america to infiltrate iran. in a statement, his wife says her husband would never commit espionage. their 4-year-old son has missed his father. israeli police clash with muslims outside a gate to jerusalem's old city. the muslims were protesting the increased security measures at a site holy to both muslims and jews, the al aqsa or temple mount. israel beefed up security there by adding metal detectors after arabs opened fire.

released from prison. >> the illinois republican served 15 months behind bars after being convicted in a banking violations case. it was that case that revealed hastert had sexually abused teenagers while coaching wrestling at a chicago-area high school. he is now confined to his home and must undergo court-ordered sex offender treatment and is facing two civil lawsuits from men who claim he abused them as boys. and one of o.j. simpson's victims in the incident that sent him to prison for up to 33 years will attend simpson's parole hearing tomorrow. that victim will be speak on simpson's behalf. he is hoping to be paroled after serving nine years for armed robbery. if simpson wins parole, he won't be set free until october of this year. the hearing will be streamed live and abc news will provide live coverage starting at 1:00 p.m. eastern time tomorrow afternoon. last time chris christie was in the news he was sitting on a near empty beach with his family and friends.

those heavy thunderstorms in britain's southwest coast sent a flash flood roaring through that village there. some people had to be rescued by helicopter off of a roof. now area roads are closed and large hail has broken windows. residents say they've had minor flooding before, but nothing quite like this. luckily, no injuries reported, but quite a scene there in corn wall. back here in this country, the search for the tenth victim of last weekend's flash flood in arizona will resume at daybreak. it had to be called off early yesterday because of a threat from new storms in that area.

it is monsoon season there. searchers don't expect to find hector garnica alive. his wife and three children are among the nine family members confirmed dead when a wall of water surged through the area where they were swimming. a pretty interesting discovery from switzerland. two bodies that may have been frozen inside a glacier for 75 years, the frozen remains of what appear to be a man and woman were recovered on friday. it's believed they were the husband and wife who vanished in 1942. their 79-year-old daughter says they went out to feed animals and never came home. a popular clothing chain called justice is no longer selling a makeup product in its stores. our station wtvd found that just shine shimmer, the face powder, contains asbestos. the testing lab also found four toxic heavy metals have been found. asbestos is linked to cancer and

is especially dangerous to children. justice says it has pulled that product from its stores and website. a dallas cowboys wide receiver again has his blitz, that's blitz, his pit bull, the dog was stolen over the weekend and someone called the player, demanding $10,000 in ransom. what's wrong with people? that person never followed through, but a local rapper purchased blitz and then realized whose it was. he returned the puppy to the dallas cowboy. whitehead really is lucky. only 10% of the pets stolen each year are ever returned. he did send out a tweet not too long ago saying i want to thank everyone for the kindness and compassion i felt from everyone. it speaks volumes to the dallas cowboys community. >> there's nothing like losing a pet. that's horrible. at least he was found. some of the women on the lpga are rebelling against a new rule on the tour. >> wardrobe restrictions are set to take effect this weekend. among the new rules, racer back tank tops will not be allowed unless they have a collar.
