announcer: now "abc7 news at 4:00". on your side. nancy: developing now a it shooing just two blocks from eugene simpson stadium park. that is where the ballpark ambush happened last month. jonathan: nearby alexandria schools and offices went into lockdown. that was just lifted two hours ago. our brianne carter is on the scene. the gunman is still, he is on the run right now. is that right? brianne: at this hour that is the latest we know from police. the search of the suspect continues. show you exactly where it played out. at the other stretch of this block of east howell street. here in this del ray section of alexandria. at this hour there are several streets in the southern portion of del ray blocked off. it was before 1:00 this afternoon that police say they were called here for a shooting. witnesses tell abc7 they heard from nine to 12 gunshots. then they heard a carraway rine around a corner and slam into a parked for careen into a corner and slam into a

hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the victim and the suspect believed to know one another. that doesn't seem to be more comforting for long-time residents of the community. >> it don't happen around here. i grew up and went to mount vernon and t.c. williams. this is not usual. right now i'm scared to be here now. >> scared to be here? >> yeah. i'm ready to move. brianne: some of the first things we heard from residents here mentioning how close the proximity is. just about two blocks to where the congressional baseball shooting happened last month. one woman living in the street and we'll hear from her at 5:00. >> a woman stabbed on a walking trail by the vienna fairfax metro station.

with the search underway since 8:00. ryan? ryan: yeah, nancy, it's been an all-out search. at this time they don't have a motive behind the attack. the woman was walking across the path at the vienna fairfax station. a man comes up from behind, stabs her and runs away. the victim was able to flag by a passerby who was able to track down a police officer who just so happened to be on the patrol in area. a large portion roped off for hours with crime scene tape. three dozen evidence markers covered the ground. the suspect is still on the loose. you can imagine, news spread quickly leaving many people in this community on edge.

jonathan: with all the rain that l.a. is getting they hope to make something old enough again. they are doing work on the mcclay high line that hasn't been used since the late 1980's. they want to use it to deal with the runoff from the sere siera so they hope the tunnels will help store the water. >> the water will start to flow through the high line in october. when finished it will picked up from the aqueduct and flow through two miles of the tunnel. in the first year it will store 20 million gallons of water. in los angeles, that is gold. >> they have had a wonderful bloom. fantastic. >> then come santa ana season moving to september and october, everything that grew so big is going to be crazy fire season.

jonathan: tonight there is a-term by the police trying to find a man who killed a person on the anacostia trail. nancy: sam ford has the interview. >> the father who lives at river terrace right near this anacostia trail said his son lift his home yesterday with the dogs. he didn't even think his son had i.d. on him. so for much of the day the family had no idea why he was not responding.

we heard from his wife and his father. dion williams recalling the moment that she realized why her husband 37-year-old victor williams had not been responding to the calls and texts yesterday. a professional dog trainer who worked in a kennel in clinton. >> trying to get to the program of training the dogs for bomb sniffing. sam: left home at 7:45. stopped at his dad's house at river terrace near the anacostia trail. >> the two dogs he had mainly was with him all the time because they were puppies and he was training them. sam: his father stopped in and said he was going to walk the dogs and never returned. police say someone shot him multiple times on the trail. thigh also killed a puppy. >> came back in the day. in the everything i saw it on television pertaining to it. i saw a little dog, that looks like the dog.

rules which some say seems odd. a year ago at the frederick county fair in virginia a 47-year-old woman riding the slingshot. the wide drop and the seat was detached from the main portion of the ride. she fell 40 feet and suffered multiple injuries. in virginia it's left up to the local authorities to inspect rides. in maryland it's different. they make the owners inspect rides on a daily basis. what happened in ohio makes the fir-goers here stop and think what type of ride they really want the family jumping on. >> very concerned. no intention to let them get on the rides. >> if you had your kids here, would they be on the rides? >> i have my kids here and i will have them on rides i would think would be safe. >> the fall-out in o
