else. when the rain picks back up it won't stop until tomorrow. jonathan: abc7 has team coverage for you this afternoon. stormwatch7's meteorologist steve rudin breaking down the timing of the heaviest rain yet to fall. >> we have others monitoring the condition. we begin with steve rudin in the forecast for the weekend. washout? steve: i hate to say this but if you thought it was bad earlier in morning and into the afternoon hours, you it is going to get worse moving through overnight. especially when the sun goes down. the rain totals, four inches in gaithersburg. a little over two and a half in riverdale. you can see over two inches in hyattsville. we are probably going to add another one to three inches to the numbers. show you what is going on now. we have active flash flood warnings out there for the district, arlington, alexandria, fairfax and prince george's county. that one is until 6:15. we head in closer. the timing on this is not good at all. these are

hour-by-hour look at the freshly updated future cast and talk about the beach outlook for the weekend coming up in a few minutes. jonathan: all right, steve. thank you. rock creek along beach drive already overflowing as it almost always does with the storms but there is a lot of water with the rain. kevin lewis with mobiletrak7 in kensington. the park is under water. we have seen it before but this is a little more because of what we've had. kevin: yeah, this is the worst flooding we have seen by far all day long. we are at beach drive and cedar lane, jonathan. you can see this park is fully under water. the water has subsided over the last few hours. you can see the water line here. this is how high it was at the peak. where i'm sitting right now the water would have easily been over my kneecap. maryland national capitol park police shut down the drive. it's closed for miles between rockville pike and connecticut avenue. they have the large yellow metal barricades.

they turn on and hit the brake and honk the horn but the alternative was to send people down the roadway with water on it. not good either. look at the video we got earlier this afternoon around 12:00 noon in wheaton. this is at the intersection of veers mill road and connecticut avenue where the water was standing. so they actually, the montgomery county police shut down the roadway. and caused a lot of traffic concerns. there are also serious issues in olsen and gaithersburg -- olney and gaithersburg. and in wheaton due to the flash flooding. i would put the peak in montgomery county between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon today. since then all the water has started to dissipate. if you come back out to us live here on the other side of the park now, this is the cedar lane bridge. you can see there is probably 18 inches to two feet of the clearance below. at the height of this, 1:00, 2:00 this afternoon we were talking a matter of an inch or

start, that the bridge would become overcome with water. thankfully for our sake, the rain has stopped falling down here kensington. but this is a much different story outside the studios in arlington. isn't that right, brianne carter? brianne: indeed, it is, kevin. the rain once again coming down heavy in arlington. take a look and you can see the folks trying to dodge the heavy rain here. not seeing a lot of standing or the ponding on the roadways in this section of arlington at this hour. but it doesn't mean we haven't seen it earlier today. along route 110 earlier today we saw water starting to pool up. and along the g.w. parkway as well as folks were trying to get in and out of arlington. it was a similar scene was well. once again the rain has started to pick up once again. a number of people are just waiting outside the building to see if this latest round is in fact going to slow down. giving them another chance. you can see a lot of umbrellas. not keeping many folks from walking through here in rosslyn. we will continue to keep
