highway in the area outside the beltway near fort washington. maryland bureau chief brad bell is there with why it is so dangerous and what is being done to change things. brad? brad: police are focusing on the road. going back i can't remember the bad crashes i covered here. the latest here. palmer road, indian head highway. you my see the debris in the roadway. this involved a motorcyclists. police say he was at fault. according to police he ruse winning up indian head highway on a sport bike. he raced through a-related light on palmer road and crashed in the back of the car and entered the road on a green light. he became the fifth person to die in a crash on indian head highway this year. the road a.a.a. described this way. >> this is perhaps the most dangerous road in the

20 fatalities in four years. five this year. brad: the long straight road breeds reckless behavior. we have reported extensively on the crashes. in june a driver hit by a vehicle road rage. in july, two died when a wrongway driver caused a head-on crash. >> along this road because no one obeys the speed limits or the traffic rules. >> townsend says the police need to beef up enforcement. prince george's county police deputy chief chris murtha says they already have. >> between the motorcyclist enforcement initiatives, the drunk driving initiatives. and traffic initiatives we put a lot of resources into this. >> police tell us they have numbers to document how much they beefed up enforcement. all of last year they gave out 3600 citations. they made 3600 traffic stops. this year they have already

most of the problems caused. in the time we have been here i have six seen motorcyclest go by. jonathan: two people hurt after the car slammed in the target on potomac yard. police are not saying how it happened but say it's an accident. nancy: to minnesota one person is confirmed dead and another missing after an explosion at a school. contractors were working when they hit a gas line. they only had seconds to escape. >> we heard a man yell "gas" and then we heard the explosion. it knocked me off my feet and fe

chaos from there. nancy: the dead and missing are both staff members. all students are accounted for and people who lived nearby pulled a person out of the rubbling. seven people are still in the hospital. investigators are trying to figure out what caused a train derailment in pennsylvania that forced hundreds to evacuate. the c.s.x. train carrying flammable lick wilds went off the track 15 miles north of cumberland, maryland. no one was hurt. jonathan: a little more than a year ago this scene was playing out in the del ray neighborhood, alexandria. land mark. shutting down al's steakhouse. historic cheesesteak maker just reopened after extensive renovations when the fire happened. today, though, a grand reopening. that is after the community worked for a year to help raise $20,000 to bring al's back. >> you really learn people in the community and how supportive they are of one another. especially in del ray. jonathan: wish them the best of luck. it does look good. customers including firefighters lining up at

standards with the new ones based on a person's merit and skill. democrats argue the plan simply way to slash number of people allowed in the country. on the same day as the immigration proposal, two brothers in maryland were deported. diego and lesandro came to the united states from el salvador while children. he has worked to pay for his brother's tuition that the scholarship wouldn't cover. >> if this is a win for current administration, if this is something they deem positive to deport college bound young men, then as a community we need to stand up and make sure it doesn't happen anymore. >> immigration agents claim the brothers were caught using fake i.d.'s in 2009 and told to leave the country. and returned illegally. something i.c.e. claims they never did. >> a dog vaccinated against rabies, killed by

jonathan: this is amazing video from texas. when officers say is there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop. watch what happens. jonathan: terrifying as this looks notice the officer on the left-side of the screen. he is obviously stunned. he did a full flip after being hit by a drunk driver. stumbles over to the guardrail. he is over there checking on the driver of the car he first pulled over to give a ticket to, to make sure that that driver was okay. after he did that, he went over to the guy in the white car who clearly was drunk and slammed into him and made the arrest.
