and a firefighter injured on the job. the latest on his condition and what you can do to help. news at 11:00, on your side. is our tophe weather story, heavy rain on the way monday. good evening. i'm kimberly suiters. i'm joining josh knight in the weather center. when is the heavy rain expected? josh: about midmorning. just an early heads-up, not a guarantee that we will so veer weather -- see severe weather, but the best chances tomorrow. the wave of low pressure working its way across the country, heading to us. the warm front through first, bringing rain, and then the low pressure rides along with it. the two together give us a chance of heavy rain and stronger thunderstorms.

valley, pushing towards d.c. futurecast, overnight, more light showers filling in. tomorrow morning, just before 6 a.m. and before the morning rush, most of the rate is late. does not look to heavy until we get later into the morning. lunch hour, right into the afternoon and evening, we hang onto these on and off showers and thunderstorms. the heaviest rain will really be focused around the i-95 corridor in southern maryland. we have a flash flood watch for these areas that goes into effect tomorrow afternoon come into the evening. a lot of places will see an inch sf rain, but other place ca could see more. we will timeout the rain and when we will get a dryer and cooler week ahead of the forecast. kimberly: when severe weather strikes, stay connected to the stormwatch 7 weather team.

from the red line train that was the scene of a shooting. a teenager was shot riding from silver spring to the takoma station in northwest washington. >> that's terrible. that's ridiculous. cheryl: jasmine rides the red line for work. >> i've never heard of that happening here before. cheryl: a spokesperson said it is rare for a shooting to happen on a train. shortly before 3 p.m. the boy was shot in the abdomen. he was conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital. quickly, metro put out the images of three persons of interest. >> the witnesses described those three persons of interest on the opposite platform going back in the other direction. the police say the men left the metro at the silver spring station. >> wow, that's scary, definitely. cheryl: lawrence perkins turned around and caught an uber as the red line train was single tracking for

neighbor, demetria santonio taylor, is behind bars for starting the fire. police, taylore and his girlfriend got into a heated fight saturday morning. they say that he roughed her up and let the carpet on fire, then pushed a stroller that their newborn baby was in towards the flames and ran for it. >> i cannot imagine him doing something that. q: monique knows him personally. >> i was shocked. it's crazy. restoration crew is fixing the top two floors of the building on columbia pike. 27-year-old taylor is facing several felony charges, including child endangerment and arson. he is in jail on no bond. q mccray, abc 7 news. kimberly: an update on the d.c. firefighter who was seriously injured while responding to a call. say that danes summers junior

before a 2013 concert in denver. jury selection begins tomorrow. this video takes your breath away. this is for people in tulsa, oklahoma, as the sun came up. richard cantu shows us the damage left behind by a rare august tornado. tornado ripped-2 through tulsa in the middle of the night, it's bees over 110 miles per hour, going over into a strip shopping mall. >> people were trapped in the restaurant because the roof started to collapse. greater tulsae area come at least 30 people hospitalized, two with life-threatening injuries. there were windows blown out of this high rise, rubble in the streets, power lines down. some residents complained they received multiple tornado alerts but the psi rinse remained -- but the sirens

what we see, short-lived tornadoes. out there, you often track them across the area and they maintain it. still a very scary night. we are talking about our chance of severe weather tomorrow morning. kimberly: nothing like that. josh: not like that. we are getting heavy rain. right now, things are a little warmer. still a pretty night at the national harbor. as the temperatures work their way into the mid-70's at this point. slow to drop tonight thanks to the cloud cover. as we get more muggy ready for the rain to stick around all day monday for stop showers continue to fall along i-81, making their way across the blue ridge. not too much going on in d c, but all of the moisture has to head this way. counterclockwise flow is right around memphis. that is the center of t

what it does is lift the warm front through the area. as that happens, the warmer or tries to ride in and we get our first round of showers. gets closer, another wave of low pressure, more focused energy riding along that with heavy rain, especially in the midmorning through lunchtime. the big question tomorrow is where the warm front sets up. a much better chance of stronger storms farther south of the front. the further north and west of d.c., not as good a chance. the ingredients do not come together that way with strong thunderstorms. further south, southern maryland, fredericksburg, that is where they have a better shot. tuesday, most of the rain to the south, not out of the question we have a few showers in the morning. ikely a dry middle part of the week. the chance of
