[bells toll] it was 72 years ago today the u.s. dropped the second of the atomic bombs on japan. the blast killed 70,000 people. injured tens of thousands more. yeah pan announced the unconditional surrender nine days later leading to the end of world war ii. jonathan: developing news in france a man ramming his car in the soldiers near paris injuring six of them and was cornered by the police in a highway manhunt. all out chase. authorities are investigating the ambush as a terror attack. that man was shot in the hour-long police chase and he is still in the hospital. this is now the seventh attack on the security forces this year alone. new information coming in about an f.b.i. raid last month at the home of president trump's former campaign chairman.

outside the alexandria home. this raid happened the day after paul manafort met with the investigators from the senate intelligence committee. agents arrived without warning taking the documents and the other materials part of an ongoing russia investigation. >> update now in the case of a montgomery county teacher sentenced to 48 years in prison for inappropriately touching students. the school system is facing a lawsuit over this. the parents of one of john vigna's victims say the school knew about the abuse and failed to stop him. the school district will not comment on this. prince george's county public schools has a new education board. dr. donna weissman will replace dr. beverly anderson who resigned last month. jonathan: a big change is coming to the commuters on 395. transportation reporter brianne carter shows us the

the interstate. brianne: designed to ease congestion and commutes. eight miles of toll lanes will soon be up and running in northern virginia. wednesday morning governor mcauliffe and others officially broke ground on the new express lanes along 395. the project will change the two h.o.v. lanes now designed for carpoolers to three express toll lanes. the lanes will operate just like the tolls along 95 but 15 million collected annually from this stretch will go toward other transportation improvements. including new buses and the bridge rehabilitation. >> 395 express lanes project will benefit the military, civilian and the contract employees. who work at and near pentagon. brianne: it is also improving the bus and the slug lanes and configuration of the access road. >> we will address the bottleneck on 395 south by

alison: so take a look at this tonight. prince george's county police hoping something in the pictures will jog your memory. someone holding up a convenience store with a rifle last week. this is on annapolis road in lanham. tips leading to an arrest could be worth up to $2,500. jonathan: this is from a police chase but from an angle you don't often see. behind the steering wheel. watch. they are flying. those are the officers right there chasing a 16-year-old in a stolen survivor. the first few times they try to nudge him. they try to spin the kid out. but it didn't go well because the teen would ram them and his vehicle was bigger. in ends in a crash and they get him out of the car.

have been trapping franklin. it's -- tracking the franklin. it's officially a hurricane. top winds at 75 miles per hour. they could reach 85 miles per hour before it makes landfall north of veracruz of midnight. the first hurricane of the hat lan tick hurricane -- atlantic hurricane season. this is the day that they updated the forecast for the rest of the season. the next system is gert. the hurricane center in the update said they upgraded the forecast for the name storms this year from 11 to 17 to 14 to 19. a little stronger. five to nine hurricanes are expected and two to five could be major. category three or higher. so very busy tropically. tonight not busy at all weatherwise. we will see the sunshine. go away at sunset. most areas are mostly clear tonight. we drop to the 60's. maybe 50's
