he died at the scene. no word on the suspect. in developments right now from northeast d.c., one person is now in custody for the double shooting in broad daylight yesterday. the search continues for more suspects. this, as the 17-year-old victim is in grave condition. suzanne kennedy has details from the d.c. police chief. suzanne: police are back out on the scene where the shooting took place yesterday afternoon, where a 17-year-old was shot in her car just a day before her sister was to be married. less than 24 hours later, an arrest has been made. 21-year-old philip carlos mcdaniel of washington dc. it was about 3:45 when police say there were gunshots on saratoga avenue northeast. the teenage victim was shot in the head. she was just 10 days away from leaving for college. was alsoperson, a man, hit. this latest incident comes at a time when violent crime is down in the district. >>

happens, people don't want to hear those things, they want us to make sure we don't ever have these things happen in the city and that is something i agree with. suzanne: the girl is still in the hospital struggling for her life. her family is by her side. two more suspects are still being sought. mpd has no further details about either of these men. suzanne kennedy, abc 7 news. adrianna: activists with black lives d.c. of the press conference this morning to call on mpd and the district to make changes due to recent violence and shootings involving police. this comes two days after it was announced that officer brian trainor will not be charged in the shooting death of tarrant sterling, who was unarmed. d.c. police are reviewing that case. mayor muriel bowser and the police chief are calling for trainer -- trainor's resignation. >> i hope they consider the

the family. they can also consider that this is not a good chapter in our city's history. this is something everybody is watching. adrianna: police have 30 days to review the case. is on administrative leave until the review is complete. one person is dead after a fiery crash. authorities tell us that a tractor-trailer crash, then caught fire near the middletown rest area. flames also spread to the surrounding woods. one person was found dead inside the truck. police are trying to figure out what caused the big rig to leave the road. right now, seat pleasant police chief devon martin is still recovering in the hospital after crashing his motorcycle. police say good samaritans helped him at the scene. he is being treated for nonlife threat

adrianna: in china, 36 people are dead after a bus slammed into an expressway tunnel. 13 others were injured in the crash. the front of the red bus was mangled after it plowed into the wall of that tunnel. authorities are investigating the cause of that crash. some shocking must-see video out of texas of the moment a car plunges seven stories off the side of a parking garage. this is the first time we have seen the moment of impact from that incident in july and just how close that car came to landing on top of another suv. everyone involved in this was somehow ok. coming up on the news at noon, a scare in the air. twice. two flights diverted just hours apart and they are from the same airline. what caused both planes to land early. hisrmer fbi agent and daughter found guilty of murdering her husband. abc news has an exclusive interview with them

and the pilot and two crew members taken to the hospital. >> a smoky type smell. >> one passenger telling a local anspaper he smelled overpowering smell. hours earlier, another diversion for another jetblue flight. >> we evaluated the three flight attendants complaining of symptoms. >> three flight attendants complaining of headaches forced this plan to return to fort lauderdale headed to barbados. these incidents are not all that rare. three american airlines workers were taken to the hospital. they reported a possible odor in the cabin. the source of those fumes could thehat is called bleed air, area used to pressurize the cabin, which is directed from the engines of almost all planes.

adrianna: wells fargo is under fire, accused of ripping off mom-and-pop shops. the banking giant faces a new lawsuit, alleging its merchant services overcharged for credit card transactions and then charge massive early termination fees. wells fargo has not commented on this, but this is the latest controversy for the bank, which admitted last year that employees created millions of unauthorized account. someone could be a whole lot richer after tonight. is atga millions jackpot $382 million right now.

the odds of winning are less than one in 250 million. that is not it. the powerball jackpot for to $356 night is now up million. all right, a former fbi agent and his daughter were just convicted in her husband's death, which came as a shock to many. in an exclusive interview with abc news, molly corbett and her father, thomas martens, detailed the night of that killing. lindsay janice is here with more of what they are saying. this is a very interesting case, one that started with self-defense claims and unravel from there. >> that's right. a lot a fascinating and of emotion in that courtroom. a 3.5-week trial that ended with molly and thomas martens being convicted of second-degree murder, being sentenced to 20-25 years in prison. you will hear exclusively from thomas martens and his daughter

months before they went to trial. they give us their version of events that happened that night. thomas martens was visiting his daughter at her home in north carolina. he says he heard a disturbance in the middle of the night. he went upstairs, bringing with him a baseball bat, a little league baseball bat he had brought for his grandson. when he walked into the room, he said he saw his son-in-law choking his daughter and he was forced to intervene. the prosecution argued there was no self-defense, that molly and ,er father killed jason corbett an irishman, with excessive force and with malice. clearly, the jury agreed with them. adrianna: what are the victim's family saying about this? >> as far as the irish family is concerned, the family of jason corbett, this is complete vindication. after jason corbett was killed, tracy lynch, his sister, came over from ireland and got his children from his first
