turned violent in charlottesville, va, one person killed, 19 others hurt as a car rammed into people. governor terry mcauliffe and other officials are about to hold a news conference. following has been this news from the live desk. some very intense video and scenes from charlottesville. amy: absolutely, and at this hour, the person who rammed their car into the crowd is in custody. a warning tonight because the video you are about to see is so graphic. the quiet college town of charlottesville, virginia, turned into chaos. upset over the decision to remove a statue of confederate general robert e. park, whendowntown suddenly a car came barreling down the street, ramming into the protesters, running them over. others forced to jump out of the way.

you could see people laid out on the streets, paramedics working on them, people wrapping up their legs. amy: the charlottesville mayor said he was heartbroken a life has been lost. i urge all people of goodwill, go home. virginia governor terry mcauliffe declared a state of urgency. the crowd was ordered to disperse. >> leave the area or you will be arrested. trump condemning the violence, but urging both groups to set aside their differences. >> this has been going on for a long, long time. there is no place in america for this. what is vital now is a swift restoration of law and order and the protection of innocent lives. rally after a friday night march by white nationalists resulted in fights with protesters countering the event. reaction from virginia'

separate warnings, and in both of those we could have wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and possibly some hail. this goes all the way up into new york. this is a busy weather evening for a lot of the east coast. zooming in, this continues to drop to the southeast. are where weeyes have a lot more lightning, the storms intensifying quickly. zooming in, damascus, and working towards columbia, the warning continues to the southeast. the storm could pack damaging wind gusts, a lot of big oak trees. these are the things that will come down in the storms. in that box, take cover. leesburg also in the crosshairs. moving just at 20 miles per hour, so not too quickly, but theburg about 6:33 for storm to continue dropping to the southeast. anywhere in

but fade out quickly. we have to watch these closely. videoo want to bring new from fauquier county, where the national weather service has tornadod an ef-0 touched down in broad run. this is the third confirmed tornado in our area and a little less than three weeks. ryan hughes is on the scene now, surveying the damage. moore is headed that way, ryan. ryan: reign as the last thing that anybody wants out here, josh. this tornado was only only ground for about three minutes, but it for a path of destruction more than a mile long. this is some of the damage we came across. look how close this tree came to almost landing on that home. families had to take cover knowing the tornado was headed towards them. another round of violent weather. >> it sounded like a freight train coming. ryan:

country. closely,w box, look but this is where we have the severe thunderstorm watch dropping into southern maryland, all the way into new york. things will leave all for along that line. this is thanks to a cold front. sets us up for a nice sunday, but we have to deal with this first. we are looking at two different severe thunderstorm warnings. i want to stress this one here, further north, northern montgomery county, carroll county, frederick county, that one the weather service says tornado possible -- not a tornado warning, but a stronger storm and a little rotation within that storm. on that one.se eye the other severe thunderstorm warning extends into leesburg. two rather strong storms, a lot of lightning with these, and this one continues to drop to the southeast, both moving at about 20 miles per hour. through the evening we hang on to this watch.

warming through the day. we have a little cool down for the beginning of the work week, but heading into the back end of the week, thursday, friday, a better chance of thunderstorms and also a better chance of temperatures closer to 90 degrees. the string of cooler than normal days may be coming to an end later this week. a chance of showers tuesday, better chance of thunderstorms the end of the week. and now officially on the 10-day forecast, the partial eclipse ne xt next monday. kimberly: a second breaking news story in charlottesville, where virginia state police are on the scene of a helicopter crash just west of the city near the bird would golf course, about a mile from the campus of the university of virginia. two people died when the chopper went down around 5:00 this evening. nobody on the ground was hurt. the ntsb is investigating.
