president will take to the airways to push for a new plan in afghanistan. this comes after seven months in august and 16 years at war. there will 8,400 troops in afghanistan, part of the 13,000 coalition forces. the proposal that is unveiled in may would add 3,000 troops and increase foreign aid. the price tag is estimated $23 billion a year. in advance the democrats like senator tim kaine had willingness to support the u.s. involvement. >> we need to make sure that afghanistan isn't a breeding ground for things to come back and hurt

jonathan: a crime alert after a rash of vandalism. dutten of cars keyed -- dozen of cars keyed. windows smashed. this is brightwood neighborhood. they are scammabling to get the cars tow -- scrambling to get the cars towed or fixed. the police are searching for whoever did this. kimberly: the man accused of driving in a crowd to protest white normallists in charlottesville made the second court appearance. james field appeared by video as a judge declined to set the bond at all. fields is charged with the second-degree murder in the death of heather heyer. he is due back in court on friday. students at the university of texas are going to head back to classes next week. when they return four confederate statues will be missing from the south mall.
