in woodbridge. it's right by pennington lane. our northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg with new information about just what happened here. jeff? jeff: well, alison, it was about 7:00 on saturday night in this section of woodbridge where the 36-year-old woman was walking on this session of elm farm road where police say she was accosted by a 13-year-old boy who they believe likely tried to drag her into a wooded area. woman tells police she noticed she was being followed by a male on a bicycle so she picked up the pace of her walking but authorities say at that point the teen grabbed the woman. he was off his bike. grabbed the woman and pulled her in the middle of the road. she was then able to scream and kick and get away. the boy took off on foot. as the woman called police. they showed up fast. they were able to canvass the area and flood the area putting focus on the elm farm mobile home park. police were able to identify the juvenile and take him into

experience for this 36-year-old woman. >> she just noticed she was being followed. and through the process, she tried to get away. he got off the bike and ran after her and grabbed her. tried to pull her across the road. >> you are not expecting someone, whoever it is, attacks you, you know, especially from a kid. jeff: thankfully the woman only suffered minor physical injuries in the incident. the 13-year-old boy has been arrested and is being charged as a juvenile. currently being held at the prince william county juvenile detention center. live in woodbridge, jeff goldberg, abc7 news. jonathan: thanks. police want you to take a look at this man's picture. rojas is accused of exposing himself to a woman and taking her phone when she tried taking a picture of him. police are worried he may be responsible for other incidents like this, possibly in maryland, maybe

he is now facing several criminal charges for the latest incident and one that happened last month. alison: developing over the past couple of hours today an all clear has been given at the white house after a suspicious package forced a lockdown there. the secret service says it was found near the north fence line. abc7 did get some video here of the officers inspecting the package but again, operations at the white house are now back to normal. and by the way, the president had already left for his planned trip to arizona. for a second straight day keeping the eyes turned toward the sky. no eclipse today. this time a strong line of storms. on the move as a hot and a humid day comes to a close. stormwatch7 meteorologist steve rudin with the forecast. steve: the cold front will be here this time tomorrow and it will begin to feel better around here. outside we look now over toward crystal city. it's hazy and humid. it's hot out there. temperature right now of 92

safety violations. filled and clogged trash chutes. not functioning fire doors. the fire chief announcing the team determined the lynnhill condos are unsafe for human habitation. >> the residents have 24 hours to remove their belongings. brad: then it got tense. angry residents actually shout down the chief's press conference. >> you got some money. >> thank you very much. that will conclude the press conference. >> you would cut it off real quick. brad: the two apartment buildings totaling 106 units have been falling into disrepair for years. they are condos. the condo association mismanaged funds, owners and respecters -- renters stopped paying and the problems snowballed. the utilities with will be cut off again. those ordered to move out say it's another bold.

out there, brad. thank you. meanwhile, we want to show you this video that went viral. the president stealing a glance at the sun in the solar eclipse yesterday without his eclipse glasses until here. he just took a quick peak before he did put on the solar glasses for a better view. but, you know, president trump, however, not the only one who couldn't help but look up at the sun without protective gear. today, well, phones at eye doctor offices are ringing off the hook. stephen tschida with the doctors and the patients that couldn't help themselves yesterday. what do you see in there? stephen: i was out and about yesterday. streets like this all over the place, you saw people stop and just look up. today, some of them are calling or going into eye doctors. >> historic event taking place above you. for some people, it's hard not to look. even though we got plenty of warning. >> i thought it was getting dark so i looked up. i was like okay. i'm going to see

without the glasses but i also wear contacts. i should be fine, i guess. stephen: ophthalmologist offices are flooded with calls today. >> i know it can ruin the retina. >> everybody is calling saying their eyes hurt looking at the sun from yesterday's eclipse. stephen: a lot of people fear they inflicted damage looking at the eclipse without the proper protective eye wear. the doctors say in most cases the effects will diminish in minutes, days or weeks. but in some cases, it can be serious. >> it can cause inflammation and potentially lead to permanent loss of vision. stephen: dr. luther says it can happen in just 20 seconds. that is as little as it takes to inflict that kind of damage. coming up at 5:00, we are going to give you more information and talk to a woman who actually had her eyes damaged from looking up at the sun. reporting live, stephen

alison: thank you. one more note here, in about 20 minutes what is going to happen now to all the solar eclipse viewing glasses that most of the nation was using yesterday? because you know what? they are not going to be good for the next one in 2024. we are going to find out how you can recycle them, though. jonathan: the first city council meeting in charlottesville since the deadly violence two weeks ago. at one point the councilmembers had to put the meeting on hold. three people jumped up on a desk and started screaming. they were arrested. the council voted earlier this year to remove the robert e. lee statue that is at the center of the rallies. that will remain covered until the statue is gone. actor george clooney now and his wife showing support for charlottesville. the couple donating $1 million to the southern not verity law center which monitors the locations and the activities of domestic hate groups. a confederate memorial came down o

county executive it canerman posted video of the statue coming down saying he ordered it following the violence in charlottesville. the monument will be donated to the museum. alison: the purple line is moving forward at least for now. we spotted crews along the light rail line to connect bethesda to new carrollton crossing montgomery county and prince george's county. kevin lewis is joining us to tell us why the maryland governor is convinced that federal funding is on the way for this. kevin: governor larry hogan spoke with the u.s. secretary of transportation twice in the last week. now governor hogan saying he expects $900 million in federal funding to floor to maryland in short order. we found proof of the optimism on display today. demolition application sign and the water filled barriers at the ready beside the apex
