that were adopted after our appeal last year. melissa: a spokesperson said the district hired outside consultants to design a more efficient bus route easing issues with driver shortages and shortening the length of time kids spend on the bus, but parents say the county roads have many problems that a computer can't see. >> on the subcommittee that voted on this came out and visited themselves, our school board representatives, everybody agreed that this was an unsafe situation. there are no easements, no sidewalks, nowhere for our children to stand. melissa: to make matters worse the decision can't be appealed. parents' hands are tied. they plan to keep working with he school board on the matter. jonathan: we continue to track hurricane harvey. this is a monster storm now hitting with dangerous strength. it is just blowing ashore now. it made landfall. officials were urging everyone to prepare, some to evacuate.

fema saying this will be a significant disaster. we'll go live to corpus christi right now. you're in one of the areas expected to be very hard hit. walk us through what you've seen over the last couple hours as far as conditions there. reporter: well, yeah. harvey has indeed made landfall. that makes it the first category 4 hurricane to do so in more than a decade. you have to go all the way back to 2004. right behind me the rain and wind is increasing with intensity. it's been an all day thing where you have a slow and steady rain and then just a crescendo of swirling rain, sideways wind, and, you know, we haven't seen flooding. i am wondering if at some point, i did get a chance to walk around to the other side of the hotel, would love to see some of the low lying streets. we are getting an incredible amount of rain. the palm trees have been a good gauge where they're alternately bent completelyve

we get these giant gusts. at this point the numbers we have are about a hundred thousand, more than 100,000 people without power. as you know that number is likely to grow. >> was corpus christi one of the areas they asked people to evacuate especially those close to the coast? stacey: absolutely. they really were trying to stress evacuation here. many people did leave. however, we saw some people that chose to stay because they have family or they have pets or wanted to protect their belongings. earlier this evening we had quite a bunch of thrill seekers driving out in their big trucks and taking pictures and honking horns but they have completely disappeared. i mean, this is not something even those folks are trying to drive through. very dangerous down here. >> the part of this storm that scares the most people is the fact the rainmaker it is going to be over the next few days. it won't move quickly away and dissipate. this thing is going to park. how much rain are they expecting where

san antonio, texas, and you can see the wind really beginning to blow around as bands are continuing to move inland and the eye is now officially ashore making landfall at around 11:00 eastern time this evening so just less than 20 minutes ago. this what is it looks like. here is the eye moving across rockport, texas right now. widen the view a bit and you see the wind vector spinning around the eye as we head in closer. winds upwards of 130 miles per hour with wind gusts upwards of 160 miles per hour. strong storm. inside the eye it is very quiet right now. just watching a group on twitter and they have winds at around 10 miles per hour inside he eye right here. you can see as we spin around here cloud tops upwards of 50,000 feet. this is a huge

a lot of energy in it and a lot of rain over the coming days where they'll measure it in feet in some areas 20, 30, maybe even 35 inches by the time the system moves out of here. the winds, 130 miles per hour. now moving off toward the northwest at seven. it is slowing down and that's when it continues -- that is going to continue through the overnight hours. the latest track as of 11:00 shows it will decrease in terms of how the wind or the rain is going to increase as we head through the next 24 to 48 hours and as mentioned it is not out of there until tuesday or wednesday. closer to home, so much nicer. count our blessings. temperatures are cooling off nicely. lower 70's at reagan national airport. 60's off to the west of us. wakeup temperatures tomorrow a little chill in the air. out early a light, fleece jacket. other than that you won't need it terribly long as we warm our temperatures into the upper 70's to around 80
