areas in pink north of the metro washington through north of washington and to the west of the washington area, severe thunderstorm watch posted until 9:00 tonight. there are a number of jurisdictions and the counties under severe thunderstorm warnings as we speak. all because of this line that is racing off to the east and southeast. now the severe thunderstorm warning over jefferson county, west virginia, berkeley just expired at 4:00. we have remaining until 4:15, winchester, clark, frederick and jefferson county in the eastern panhandle of west virginia. and also for parts of loudoun, washington county, carroll, frederick county in virginia, a severe thunderstorm warning until 4:30. a pretty dynamic looking line here moving into the area. it's very warm and very muggy so the atmosphere is very moist and rich. pretty much feeding the storms. look at the electrical activity. hundreds of lightning strikes with the line as it continues to quickly push to the east. we have labeled a couple of storms for you here and arrival times. 4:27 move to middletown and frederick county.

4:52 in thurmont. 5:53 in the city of frederick, maryland. walkersville, 6:46. 6:48 to bartonsville and it will move eastward from there. it's moving at a good clip but most of the action will stay north of washington so the northern suburbs, the northern viewing area getting this line. beyond the line to the south, it's only a few showers and storms we will deal with here. it's one of the situations where there is a lot of weather action concentrated in a fairly small area. so the worst of it right now from winchester into southern pennsylvania. everything moving. even though the district and the metro area may get a few storms the biggest threat clearly in the next couple of hours north of the city of washington. we'll stay on the weather watch. any more advisories or warnings come along, we will pass them to you immediately. such an open-ended circumvention of immigration law was an unconstitutional exercise. nancy: the administration rolling back daca. and now rallie

united states including here in d.c. michelle: at the center of this, hundreds of thousands of so-called "dreamers" who arrived as children when their family entered the country illegally. jonathan: they will be at risk unless congress doesn't make the executive order by obama the law of the land. nancy: this could have cascading effect across the country. michelle: we have team coverage. emily rau has a big picture look at the policy change. jonathan: and tom roussey is monitoring the policies and the protests. but let's start with emily. emily: former president obama promised to weigh in if daca was rescinded and this afternoon he did just that. he posted a statement on facebook calling the decision cruel and saying that it's time for congress to protect the dreamers. from the white house in washington, to trump tower in new york, high schoolers in denver staging a walk-out and thousands of people protesting president trump's decision. >> this is an a

the entire immigrant community. emily: the president didn't make the announcement himself on camera. instead it was attorney general jeff sessions who called daca an unconstitutional overreach of executive power by president obama. >> it also denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of americans by allowing those same illegal aliens to take those jobs. emily: daca protected some 800,000 young immigrants from deportation. the so-called "dreamers" will start losing the legal status after a six-month grace period. many already fearing what comes next. in a statement today, president trump said the dreamers will not be a priority for deportation. then punted the problem to lawmakers. >> it's congress' job to legislate. it's not the president's job to create law. >> it is time for us in congress to do the right thing for america, the right thing for these young people and their families and to pass the dream act. to make it the law of the land and to

emily: but the political football offering little comfort to the hundreds of thousands of immigrants, some now facing a forced return to countries they have never known. >> we are humans, too. we live here. this is our homeland. emily: the white house is insisting president trump made a responsible choice but as the reaction rolls in, many others are saying it was anything but. in northwest, emily rau, abc7 news. michelle: even before the decision was made, -- the decision was made official, crowds were marching at the white house. tom roussey is with one of the groups right now outside of the white house. what is their response tonight, tom? tom: well, michelle, they are disappointed in what was announced. at the same time, they expected the protest is going on behind me. it's one of a number we have run into today. marching through the streets ever since this was announced this morning. here is video we took a

through the streets. they went to places like the headquarters of immigration and customs as well as the trump hotel. they disagree strongly with the decision by the trump administration and they believe the daca program should continue. a lot of folks who were marching are folks who benefit from it. called "the dreamers." one thing emphasized by the trump administration was the constitutionality issue. they say what president obama did to create daca was unconstitutional. that is something that the protesters disagree with. but people who support the president said it would have never held up in court anyway. >> attorney general sessions today said what a lot of people believe that president obama acted unlawfully when he passed daca. >> the president has the capacity to have limitations. the reality is we don't have the capacity to deport 12 to 15 million peopl

tom: the protesters there maintaining the president does have the authority to continue this. however, one of president obama's other measures he did by executive action did not hold up in court so there is an argument that this one would not have either. but at this point it appears it's in congress' hands and a lot of folks called "dreamers" say their lives are uncertain in the future. you will hear from some of them coming up at 5:00. reporting live outside the white house, i'm tom roussey, abc7 news. nancy: all right, tom. thank you very much. apple c.e.o. giving his thoughts on daca. tim cook posting on twitter 250 of the employee at apple are dreamers. but exactly where he stands on the decision isn't clear saying they deserve, "a solution rooted in american values." if congress does not act, they could be subject to being deported. stay with abc7 for continuing coverage of the daca decision. at

back to you. nancy: thank you. the path to recovery after hurricane harvey. insurance adjustors are turning to drones to assess the damage. the companies relying on them more than ever to get a look at the roof damage and the destruction. you can see the perspective from the drones there. one company has more than 60 drone pilots in texas right now. michelle: more relief now headed to southeast texas. this time it's coming in the form of four wheels. enterprise holding says it has sent 4,000 rental cars already and it is planning to send 17,000 more. jonathan: a reminder there will be a benefit concert live on abc7 a week from tonight. beyoncé, blake shelton, barbra streisand, those are just some of the performers that will be there. watch it tuesday at 8:00. they will raise money to help the folks affected by the storm. also developing right now there is a stabbing at a school in d.c. a young girl accused of stabbing another student. this is all unfolding at the british international school of washington. that is on wisconsin ave

with a new twist in this investigation. what is the deal, rich? richard: yeah, that is right. kind of a strange twist here. we have just been told that the suspect in this case, the accused assailant has diplomatic ties. so there will be no arrest in this case. police still not confirming the victim is a 13-year-old boy. we know he attended classes here inside. now this happened all before 1:00 this afternoon. at the prestigious school of washington. it happened on the third floor. not telling us if it's a classroom or a hallway or where it happened but they say the victim suffered stab wounds to the back. non-life threatening they tell us. now at a hospital. no motive. the authorities not saying what happened here. it was a fight. what the story was. those attending classes here are primarily children of the diplomatic community. >> we do not believe any other students are in danger. and the case is under investigation right

>> thank you! jonathan: good luck to all of them. michelle: congratulations. jonathan: talk about the weather situation. this is terrifying. doug: a lot of terrifying weather stuff. a major storm. we all love superlatives. let's start locally. we have a severe thunderstorm watch that is continuing until 9:00 to the county shaded in pink north and northwest of washington. not the entire area. in the pink areas the yellow areas and more to the south. those are the active severe thunderstorm warnings in effect. this is the line of storm. there is a lot of lightning. there is no shortage of heavy winds. very, very strong downpours. as the winds head ea

storms are moving 15 to 20 miles per hour. but there could be 50, 60 miles per hour in spots. let's go to urbana in frederick county at 4:28. woodville at 4:25. leesburg at 4:39. the line is closer. there may be showers or storms inside the capital beltway but the heaviest storms are threatening the area north and west. you see the line continuing south. a separate area. this will move northeast and it could get the washington metro area. a lot to watch locally. through the evening the storm gradually and showers overnight. period of the showers a

forecast. we make up 62 to 70. probably won't rise much in the temperatures around the area. there will be shower chances. now talk about this. irma. moving west at 14 miles per hour. a new update in 20 minutes or so. on the current track the center of the location, the circulation will go to antigua and skim, go through the british and the u.s. virgin islands. skim puerto rico and hispaniola and east. these are the spaghetti plot. they almost all make a sharp turn north to approach florida. that is key. because by this point when it's here getting ready to make a right-hand turn north it is still a category four hurricane. with winds of 1
