rico late today and federal agencies are already deployed in puerto rico. the governor has declared a state of emergency as well. >> and gas is in short supply in the florida keys because all tourists and visitors must leave this morning. everyone else has to get out by this evening, even the naval air station in key west is evacuating. >> and miami officials are planning the first major evacuation in 12 years, possibly as soon as tonight. there's lar run on emergency supplies as well. >> let's check the latest path of hurricane irma. >> accuweather's justin povick is here. good morning. >> good morning to you. more so, we're looking at a very, very intense hurricane. i just checked one of the recent observations out of barbuda. wind gusts here, 157 miles per hour. and they're on the weaker side of the storm right now, the western side of the storm. movement takes it to the west and north west. and we're looking at

virgin islands and antigua and barbuda. we get toward late week and the upcoming weekend, we are confident about a u.s. landfall most likely into the state of florida, and this would produce again, widespread damage. the potential for very heavy rain that could induce flooding. it will be moving. we're talking about flooding but not catastrophic amounts like harvey produced but still a foot of rain can do a lot of damage. >> sometimes three predictions change and vary, how certain are we that this storm will hit florida? >> you know, what you really want to do here is focus in on not so much the center of the line but more so the cone. we are very confident it will be making the move toward southeastern florida as we bear down into the upcoming weekend. now is the time to prepare. >> luckily, people are at least doing that. justin povick f

florida keys, mandatory evacuations. officials telling tourists to get out as soon as possible. patricia and valeri lynn rushed here from houston where they were dealing with harvey. now faced with a new storm. >> i said we got ten minutes, pack your bags. we caught a flight monday morning from dallas to here. >> reporter: the mayor warning residents not to rely on shelters. >> going to stay with family or friends outside the evacuation zone is the best choice, since shelters only provide for basic needs. >> reporter: hurricane irma seen from space, the strong els est e atlantic basin since 2005. is south florida ready? >> well, i'd say we're not ready. no one is ever ready for a category five hurricane. >> reporter: in the 25 years since hurricane andrew, construction has boomed in florida. during that time,

ten homes were built in the state. >> the place has grown like crazy since andrew. there a lot of people who haven't been through this before. >> reporter: evacuations in miami dade could start as early as wednesday. they are urging people to take pictures of important documents, refill prescriptions and of course have a spare power supply for your cell phone. >> one of the longer term effects of irma could be on your breakfast take. if the storm hits florida, the crop are of oranges could be impacted. commodities markets saw a big jump ahead of the storm. and the air fours hrce has d an investigation into a crash in arizona. the jet was on a training mission when the crash took place. the pilot was killed in the incident, but it's not clear

down. and the future of hundreds of thousands of young immigrants is in limbo now that president trump has moved to officially end the daca program that protects them from deportation, after shifting the plight of the d.r.e.a.m.ers to law makes, the president tweets, congress now has six months to legalize daca. if it doesn't, i will revisit this issue. dozens of people were arrested in front of trump tower in new york. hundreds of demonstrators gathered in los angeles. and in some cities, students walked out of class in response to the president's decision. >> i have a great heart for the folks we're talking about. a great love for them. hopefully, now congress will be able to help them and do it properly. >> in announcing the president's decision, attorney general jeff sessions labeled the program that offers temporary legal status to illegals brought to the

called them illegal aliens, saying they took jobs from americans. >> obama had unsuccessfully tried to get congress to pass immigration legislation while in office, and now law makers are facing that task again. mary bruce has more. >> reporter: with the fate of the d.r.e.a.m.ers now in their hands, congress is bracing for a bruising fight. >> here's deal. the congress is going to have to up its game. >> reporter: house speaker paul ryan says he wants to protect dreamers, but many conservatives disagree. it's a familiar battle. law makers have already tried and failed more than ten times to act on this issue. why should d.r.e.a.m.ers today have any confidence that this time around you'll be able to get this done? >> daca is about to expire. we need to act on this or we know the consequences are a count down clock for
