is hard at work. molly: there is serious danger for those relying on generators. 20 people were taken to the hospital for possible carbon monoxide poisoning. running was a generator . they were instructed to turn it off. molly: in orlando, a generator inside of a garage killed three members of a family. sticky, nearly 4 million customers across the state are still without power. officials are stressing if you're going to use a generator, you must put it outside of the house to stay safe. elitena: an search-and-rescue team from virginia is providing support. 80 members of virginia task force one have been activated, and they are spread out across puerto rico, the u.s. virgin islands, and the florida keys. it includes swift rescue specialists. $44 million.

a guilty plea in the murder of a d.c. yoga teacher on christmas day. sam ford is live with details. jailhouseleton in his orange, duane johnson showed no emotion as he answered a series of questions in making his guilty plea to murder. it was last christmas evening according to charge and -- charging documents, tricia mccauley, a 46 euros yoga teacher left her home added to a christmas dinner. she never made it. somehow johnson ended up in her car, raping, then strangling her to death. he then drove around in the victim's car with her body concealed under close until the next day when somebody spotted the car on m street northwest and alerted police. police found johnson and the victim's body in the car. she had

strangled with the scarf she wore around her neck. johnson faces a maximum of 60 years in prison in this first-degree felony murder conviction. with this plea deal, he receives 30 years. now, the judge does not have to accept this plea deal. if he does, sentencing is set for november 17. one big question, how did johnson end up in the victim's car? adrianna: thanks for the update. new at noon, bond has been denied to the man charged with setting fire to his pregnant girlfriend at her capitol heights home. the victim gave birth to a baby girl seven weeks early, and they are both in critical condition. now to a shocking wake-up call in upper marlboro -- an

suv slammed into a home as people were sleeping. sam sweeney has this story. s.: imagine this -- you are sound asleep, a car barrels through your house, and you wake up with rubble. behind that tarp is a hole. where an suv drove through and a 60-year-old woman was sleeping on the other side of the wall. take a look at the vehicle -- video. it appears to be a shafi -- chevy tahoe down kettering drive, straight up this front lawn and into the house. there were a total of five people in the house. they heard what sounded like an explosion. they came upstairs, and this is what they say happened next. >> i hear a loud explosion, and i run upstairs. and i hear my aunt that is in the living room screaming uncontrollably.

and i see this truck, suv, in the middle of our living room. and her husband comes out, and , you know we are trying to get , her -- she was trapped under all the rubble. they did take her to the hospital. fortunately, she is fine -- a little bruised here and there, but she is fine. s.: and that is the good news. this woman is expected to make a full recovery. a structural engineer will -- prince george's county will have structural engineers make sure the home is structurally sound they believed there was impaired.

county. suzanne kennedy has this story. suzanne: there are hundreds of buses here in loudoun county, but not enough people to drive them, and that is what is at the root of the problem in this school system. received 1500 complaints about the transportation system. among the issues, consolidated bus routes, lengthy bus rides. last night, a meeting was held express the concerns by parents in the county. >> there are no sidewalks, no streetlights. cars fly down that road. contacted the transportation department and we have not heard back. suzanne: the county has issued an apology and a consultant is looking at the issues. a route optimization effort is underway and will last through the wall and the winter in an effort to find a permanent solution. in leesburg, suzanne kennedy, abc 7 news. adrianna:

abc 7cer: you're watching news at noon on your side. adrianna: she has been one of the biggest stars antennas for more than a decade. maria sharapova was just 17 when she won wimbledon in 2004, and she has gotten as much attention for what she has done off the court as well as on the court. maria sharapova joins us to talk about her new book "unstoppable -- my life so far,: thank you for your time. we appreciate you being on the show. course,arapova: of thank you for having me on. adrianna: what you think people will be surprised to learn about you in this book? maria: so much has been told about my story after i won wimbledon at 17 years old because basically i became an overnight success. a lot of how i came to the notice states with my father, a limited amount

not able to take my mom with us because of visa issues, not seeing her for a couple of years was a compelling story i was able to share with many readers in the book. there were surprises, roadblocks, scrapping and decision-making i had to make throughout the process. adrianna: ok, so you have also recently returned from a 15-month suspension for testing positive for a banned substance. you explained at one point that substance was something you took for extended amount of time and it was not banned, and suddenly it was. what was it like being away from the game for so long? maria: wow. i think the emotion of uncertainty and not knowing when i would return was really scary. rear-endedseem car -- career-ending, and i wanted to get it back. i knew when my time suspension was reduced, and mining d

overjoyed. this is what i wanted back, and i got it. adrianna: lastly, you talk about your rivalry with serena williams. how would you describe your relationship with her at this point in your career? maria: that started as a younger. as i speak about in the book -- i was one of the few kids at an academy in florida that watched her practice. she was already a grand slam champion. i was watching, unknowingly, the next 25 years of my life, and the next thing i knew i'm facing her at the wimbledon final. her record against me is incredible. she has really owned me after 2004 and the two times that i beat her then, but i have respect and admiration for what she does, that she continues to play the level that she does at this point. i think we still have many more matches against each other, and many more years as well. adrianna: maria sharapova, thank you again for your time. the book is
