we've got breaking news, this coming out of prince william county. police are looking for the man who stabbed a woman near quantico gateway drive. a medevac helicopter landed at the middle school to fly the victim to the hospital. she has serious injuries but is expected to survive. police say the suspect they are looking for is said to be a woman. right now at noon, we are keeping a close watch on major storms gathering strength by the second. east coast could see some impact from hurricane jose, but the bigger concern is with hurricane maria, now upgraded to a category three hurricane. that storm will likely hit puerto rico and the virgin islands, already severely damaged by hurricane irma. meanwhile in the florida

keys, a heartbreaking homecoming for those who fled hurricane irma. tens of thousands of residents, returning to ruins, many seeing utter devastation of close for the first time this weekend. more than 20,000 are still without power. more than 600,000 throughout the state of florida alone. these storms just keep coming one after the other. brian: outside, we have three main systems. is just a depression. it has lost a little bit of steam. on thebearing down islands already impacted from irma. let's get into what is happening outside. i will show you what is going on with the very latest.we do have some great skies across the area. joseovercast, part of churning off our coast.

degrees outside at the midday hour. as we head through the day, these clouds will continue to stream through. if we widen out the view, you can see that center of circulation churning 150 miles east of the carolinas this midday. it is a category one storm, wins at 75 miles per hour. it is just on the cusp of being downgraded to a tropical storm. nonetheless, it is going to ride up the eastern seaboard, and with its proximity, it is close to landfall, but it looks like it will stay just off the tape. -- the cape. we have a tropical storm warning all the way down to hatteras. there is going to be some rough surf. locally around here, it is going to be about breezes clouds, and maybe a few passing showers. once we get past this system, we do warm up.

abc news, the united nations. melanie: covering metro this monday morning frustrations for commuters along the orange line. construction issues caused single tracking between new carrollton and the chevrolet stations. suzanne kennedy has more on the headache it caused drivers. suzanne: metro says it hopes to have service back to normal around midday with these issues not spilling into the evening rush-hour. the single tracking was due to weekend work not wrapping up on time. five stations, including new carrollton and minnesota avenue, were impacted. trains have been running every 16 instead of eight minutes through the morning commute. it was not the way many commuters wanted to start their workweek. >> it seems to be a common occurrence.

gaithersburg, no delays. further in towards the beltway, traffic is looking pretty good past montrose road. no big backups. down in virginia, 395, looking southbound past seminary road. both directions are behaving at the moment. that is a pretty good start. 95 in virginia, traffic does look pretty good here, but we do have some delays further down south. northbound traffic through stafford county past courthouse road, you do have a work's adding to a few delays. just a few spots that will be heavy. i-66 is off to a great start. nothing to worry about near germantown. the capital beltway is fine past connecticut avenue.

dave: dave lucas at the live desk, updating that situation in the fairfield neighborhood. this is a picture from about 20 minutes ago where you can see a tremendous plume of smoke coming from that plant. this is fairfield road in the brooklyn neighborhood. it is being described as a couple of neighborhoods. the baltimore office of emergency management is calling it fairfield. they have put in a shelter in place order for three zip codes. 21225, 21226. folks are being asked to stay indoors, close their windows, limit their time outside.

for dear life. oh my god. >> watch as this carnival worker fallshis footing, then from this fares wheel in front of terrified fairgoers in north carolina. on tense moment, caught camera after fair officials say the gondola car began to tilt. see the car tilting at a near-90-degree angle. an employee jumped into action, climbing up the ride to adjust it back to normal, and then the fall. fortunately, the car slips back into place, but the two boys inside were left swinging, their mothers watching helplessly from the ground, until another employee finally freed the boys. >> i felt helpless, and it was a scary moment. >>

this comes less than two months after a deadly accident at the ohio state fair. one person was killed, seven injured on the fireball ride. it malfunctioned and broke apart. both boys are ok in north carolina, and that worker, only suffering minor injuries. melanie: it has been a bad year for rides at fairs. redskins fans have something to cheer about this noon after washington notched their first victory of the season. the skins offense seemed to click against the l.a. rams. in the second quarter, chris thompson got the handoff from cousins. he outruns everybody for a 61-yard touchdown. the skins go up 20-10, and kirk cousins connects with ryan grant for an 11-run touchdown in the fourth.

e, churning off our coast. that is one of the reasons we see this extra cloud cover. we may make it to near-80. our average this time of year is 79 degrees. notice we started off this but we with sunshine, have been noticing these clouds starting to back in, moving from the northeast to southwest. that is all part of jose churning off the eastern seaboard. it is east southeast of cape hatteras. it continues to churn out there as a category one storm. it is right on the cusp of being just a tropical storm. fairlyoing to stay active and strong as it works its way up the eastern seaboard. through tomorrow, it will be passing a little bit more closely, and we will be watching -- this model indication has it doing a little bit of a loop. maybe it will head back our way into early next week. there are still some question

that. a better we will have chance to feel some of those breezes out of the north at 10-15. if tomorrow is trash day, make sure your trash is securely down on the ground. here's our model simulation. we are going to get more of an east, north easterly flow. those winds will start to relax a little bit, and because of winds, theyurf and actually have warnings up for the coastal areas as we go through time. i've got to talk maria. it is a category three storm. this is a major storm headed towards st. lucia and dominica. it is going to be headed towards antigua, verb you do, and it may make a direct hit on puerto rico as a
