crews are desperately trying to reach as many as 30 kids that could be trapped in the rubble of the collapsed school. >> they think they hear something and they are trying to listen to see if they can hear a survivor in the rubble. a few hours they think they have been communicating with a girl. they don't know exactly where she is inside the building. >> the girl has been communicating with the friends and family via text message. >> every few minutes we hear a whistle. someone will raise their hand in the air. everybody down here and hundreds of people, everybody stops. and listens. and waits. it's all to give first responders a chance to maybe pick up a tell-tale sign of where this child is. >> mexicoee president declared three days of mourning but the life or death work leaves any time for grief. larry: these are live pictures of the rescue efforts going on right now mexico. if we get any word on the girl rescued in this hour we will let you know. al

thank you. we have an update for you in the last 20 minutes or so. this is about virginia's elite task force one. now they were just called and asked to stand down after being told seven members of the team would go to mexico. they were getting ready, cots, office equipment and tables to take with them. it's been a busy couple of weeks for the 200-member team. several members helped with the rescue efforts after harvey and texas and irma in florida. right now eight members of the team are in puerto rico. they tweeted this photo about four hours ago. after weathering maria. now they are ready to head in the streets to help out there. larry: 100% of puerto rico right now is without power after maria barreled through. the storm downgraded to a category two 15 minutes ago. as elizabeth hur reports by that time it had already done plenty

feet in puerto rico and the u.s. virgin islands. in some areas two feet of rain. this as authorities in the caribbean begin assessing the damage done there. the devastation and dom anyca so far -- dominica so far with the country left with no electricity. a neighborhood in puerto rico reporting 80% of the homes there have been destroyed. there are homes flooded with three to four feet of water. in new york, i'm elizabeth hur for abc7 news. josh: we have the latest update from the national hurricane center. maria is a category two sorm. the winds clocking around 110 miles per hour. some good news again is that hurricane force winds off the coast of puerto rico. the storm has a while to go. expecting it to strengthen again back to a major hurricane back to at least a category three. right now cat two. you can see moving northwest at 12 miles per hour. put a track on there. what it me

larry: we have breaking news after a number of pigs at charles county fair tested positive for swine flu. now we learned from the maryland state health department that seven people were diagnosed with the flu after coming in contact with the pigs. richard reeve is live in leonardtown with the latest details including how another fair is being impacted. richard? richard: yeah, larry, that is right. they have the variant flu, the flu that humans get when they receiver the swine flu from pigs. take a look at this here. we are in the st. mary's fair. a pig barn. this has affected area children as well. the charles county fair closed for the season. the focus of the attention of the state health and agricultural officials the entire swine population is in quarantine after five pigs contractedded influenza a or swine

larry: some take advantage of people after natural disasters so with the hurricanes, what can prevent people falling victim to fraud? we find out. >> recovery efforts continue across texas, florida and the southeast. people try to get back to formal in the aftermath of hurricanes harvey and irma. but survivors of the storms are now facing a new danger from scammers looking to cash in. >> the most prevalent is fraud against fema. but we also see donation fraud, contractor fraud, price gouging and other type of fraud. >> the number of the fraud complaints for the national center for disaster fraud are skyrocketing. the center received over 700 fraud reports related to harvey and irma. >> the week before harvey hit, we were getting 100 a week. the week after harvey hit we got 100 ad
