right near the white pickup truck. this runs through the apartment complex called presidential greens. this is the scene from earlier today, late afternoon come into early evening. that is when the fatal accident happened. the opportunity to speak with a family friend of the three-year-old. he said the three-year-old was playing soccer with family when the ball went into the street. the boy ran into the street, picked up the ball, and ran back to the grass. while he was doing that come he lost his sandal in the street. he went back to get his sandal in the middle of the street and he was hit by the car. and died car didon driving the not leave the scene come he stayed here until the police showed up. but we are talking about a three-year-old boy. his name has not been released. that is the latest from alexandria. q mccray, abc 7 news. kimberly: so tragic, q, thanks for the update.

cochran for that. molly: this is the latest update that came out at 11:00. maria is still a category three storm. you can make out the eye on satellite. that typically tells us the storm is healthy and strong. the track the next couple days, expected to stay category 3 into about the early half of the week. heading into monday and tuesday, downgrading to a category one as it starts to run over cooler weather. that's cooler water. thursday it is heading out to sea, but the impact likely to be felt along the eastern shore tomorrow with higher swells, rough surf, and rip currents. another hot day coming up tomorrow. i look at the extended forecast coming up. kimberly: new details about the hit and run involving a vdot worker in fairfax county.

facing charges. the police say that fraser from alexandria hit a vdot employee setting up cones on i-95 in springfield. the police were helped by witness to track him down. the worker has serious injuries but is expected to survive. investigating a deadly head-on crash involving a sure stephanie and a driver -- involving a sheriff's deputy and driver in calvert county. the driver was in the wrong lane and collided with the officer's car. he was flown to the hospital and released. the driver died in the head on crash. a criminal investigation underway after human remains found yesterday in anne arundel county. the police said that a driver noticed the remains down an embankment along i-295 in glen burnie. the corner is working to determine the person's identity
