confirms that he used a private e-mail account to send official messages but they were all forwarded for retention. and some tourism is finally arriving to the florida keys. the first cruise ship has arrived in key west. the mayor was on hand to greet the nearly 1500 passengers and crew personally. those are some of our top stories on this monday, september 25th. from abc news, this is "world news now." we do say good morning on this monday. we start with the u.s. showdown against north korea, showing no signs of easing. >> u.s. war planes stayed in international airspace over the weekend while flying in areas near north korea. and the verbal volleys between president trump and north korean leaders have taken a

turn. >> reporter: american b-1 bombers and f-15 fighter jets flew farther north of the dmz in two decades. while in pyongyang this weekend, thousands marched in the streets during a rally against the u.s. the show of force comes as the volley of insults reaches an alarming level. president trump tweeted just heard foreign minister of north korea speak at u.n. if he echoes thoughts of little rocket man, they won't be around much longer. his tweet comes after the north korean foreign minister slammed the president at the united nations, calling him a mentally-deranged person who committed an irreversible mistake. days earlier, president trump in the same venue with that warning. >> if it's forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy north korea. >> reporter: north korea then threatened to test a

bomb above the pacific ocean, something they have never done before. >> everything he has said he would do, i will test a hydrogen bomb, i will send an icbm test, he's done. so why wouldn't he test a hydrogen bomb over the pacific? >> i think the likelihood is there that he will test a bomb at some point. >> reporter: bob woodruff, abc news, new york. >> in the meantime, the president has signed off on a new travel ban. it replaces a controversial one on mostly muslim countries which has expired. the new travel restrictions impact citizens from eight countries including chad, libya, north korea, somalia, yemen and venezuela. some of those countries face a full ban the rules are less severe for others. they take effect in october. angela merkel must form a coalition government now that she's been reelected to a fourth term in office. but they had

showings. a far-right party had a strong showing after campaigning on an anti-immigrant platform. and president trump has received quite the response after calling to fire nfl players who don't stand for the national anthem. players fired back with the largest silent protest yet. taking a knee, sitting or standing arm in arm during the anthem in a show of unity against the president's criticism. tom brady also locked arms with his teammates and three teams opted to stay in the locker room during the anthem. but the president says it's not about race, but respect. >> they should respect our flag. they're making a lot of money. i'm not begrudging them anything. but sthey should respect our flg and our country. >> colin kaepernick started kneeling last year in protest of raci

and country, you will see change take place faes. fire or suspend. but the nfl is backing its players. in an unusually strong rebuke, the commissioner says divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the nfl, our great game and all of our players. now 66% of americans say he is doing more to divide the country than unite it. now the president says he did get a chance to watch some of these games, but he says what he saw was tremendous solidarity for our country and our flag. and on twitter, he add standing with locked arms is good, kneeling is not acceptable. mary bruce, abc news, landover, maryland. the president has been a unifying sore for many. there were maybe ten players who took part in the protests by kneeling, this weekend you had more than 200. there will be another opportunity when arizona plays
