even after all this time, republicans can't agree on a path forward. the divides within the republican party seem too deep for now for them to fulfill their signature promise to the american people. mary bruce, abc news, capitol hill. >> and this news from john mccain, sharing a troubling development in his battle with aggressive brain cancer. he says after completing his first round of radiation and keim o chemo therapy, doctors have given him a very poor prognosis. he says he sometimes has feelings of fear but feels gratitude for having a great life. the supreme court won't rule on president trump as travel ban anytime soon. the decision to drop any cases related to the travel ban from its callender comendar comes as president add new countries.

have used private e-mails for official business. at least six officials conducted business from their personal e-mail accounts, including ivanka trump, steve bannon and reince priebus. it's not illegal, but they must be forwarded to official accounts to be preserved for the record. meanwhile, general h.r. mcmaster told reporters that there were people inside the trump administration who quite, may have misunderstood what their role was. but he said those people are largely gone. mcmaster went on to say that he hasn't witnessed any chaos. in fact, the president's team is working in what he calls a sensible and effective way. republican voters in alabama hiding to t hiding to the -- heading to the polls today. mike pence is stumping for senator luther

but his opponent, suspended chief just disroy moore who defied an order to remove the ten commandments from the courthouse twice is getting support from steve bannon. and polls show moore with a large lied over strange. hurricane maria is prompting evacuations for a number of areas. maria has kicked up heavy surf and there are concerns about high winds and possible flooding. meanwhile, new views of the humanitarian crisis in puerto rico show more of the disastrous conditions there that hurricane maria left behind. at least 16 people are now dead. thousands of homes leveled and many streets look like lakes due to the flooding. yesterday president trump tweeted that the island is quote, in big trouble and that food, water and medical

priorities. puerto rico's governor says the island is facing an unprecedented disaster. he warns if the federal government doesn't help it will be an even worse humanitarian tragedy. and mandatory evacuations are under way for people in corona. the fire has grown to 2,000 acres. strong wins ads are fanning the flames. there are no injuries reported and the cause is still unknown. and now to baseball news and a new record for aaron judge. >> this home run in the third, against kansas city, his 49th of the season. >> woo! >> tying him with mark mcgwire for the most homers ever by a rookie. then in the seventh, somebody called judge

there were some frightening moments on a runway in fresno, california as smoke filled the cabin of a flight that had just landed from vegas. no one was hurt, but the airline says it was a mechanical issue that caused it. the nashville community is showing support for the church where a gunman opened fire. police say the suspect killed a woman, wounded several others and had actually attended services at the church prior. he was charged with homicide, but authorities still aren't sure of his motive. in the meantime, the fbi reports violent crime in the
