read more about the story, go to our website, wjla.com. live desk ,i'm michelle marsh, abc 7 news. jonathan: honoring the little rock nine who pioneered desegregation decades ago are being honored at the national museum of african american history and culture. why told anna-lysa gayle their special story is so special now. very moving listening to the nine on stage and the struggles they went through just to go to school. anna-lysa: jonathan, it was definitely an honor and rare opportunity for the community to hear from six of the nine young people who sacrificed their comfort and entered into an uncomfortable situation, all in order to pave the way for others. six members of the little rock nine were greeted by applause tuesday night at the national museum of african american history and culture.

expecting that to continue through the night. it will be kind of rough on the beach. the beach is just behind me. i just walked up there a short time ago and saw the waves crashing on the sand, something we has seen through the day. i was in a minivan and we were shaking, flags flying, light pole swing in the breeze, and that is what we been experiencing all through the day. earlier, i was out on the beach for a couple hours and you could feel the wind and the sand kicking up, pelting my face come almost felt like needles hitting me on my face as i was doing the live shots through the day. maria is bringing wind and rain across the area, flooding in some locations, and also washing down some driveways. alison: thank you very much for the latest from kill devil hills.
