alison: right now the search is on for a man police believe put up a confederate flag posters with cotton on them at the american university campus. nancy: police released surveillance video of him a few hours ago and richard reeve joins us live with what the students are now asking for. richard? richard: in a word -- "security." they are concerned about their safety, especially at night. they wonder how this guy got on the campus, undefected and planted posters on several buildings around campus. this is a wide open campus here. there are no locked gates. this is the video that the authorities want you to see. this man wearing what appears to be construction clothing. described as a white male, 40 years old, 5'10". the police say this is the man who brought posters on campus. placed them bulletin boards in four buildings. it was just last night the same evening, they dedicated the antiracist research a

reporting live, richard reeve, abc7 news. nancy: rich, thank you. new information this afternoon after this deadly fire in bethesda. it turned out the person who died inside did not live in the house. montgomery county reporter kevin lewis is there live. that isn't the only peculiar part of the story as the investigators piece it together. kevin: yeah. odd, bizarre, puzzling are words tossed around in the bethesda neighborhood. the officials are confirming tunnels and the chemicals have been found below the modest one-story home where a fatal fire occurred on september 10. it was a sunday, around 4:30 in the afternoon. now police have identified fire victim as 21-year-old askia khafra of silver spring. khafra's mother and father spoke with me at their front door explaining that their son knew the 26-year-old bethesda homeowner who we have identified viac

mother pushed his stroller through a crosswalk. we learned the driver in the crash, john miller, will plead guilty to reckless driving charges and also plead guilty for failing to yield. he could face up to a year in jail once he enters the pleas next month. nancy: new at 4:00, a mother stabbed and killed in the district. police are searching for answers as well as a suspect. d.c. bureau chief sam ford is live in southeast. what can you tell us, sam? sam: well, this startled i guess before 10:00 this morning. you can see one officer here on the scene. slew of officers just left. they have been here for all the day and the situation. we are just on 30th street southeast. just inside the maryland line. a man attacked a woman inside the apartment building with a knife, stabbing her multiple times. the police chief on the scene said they believed it to be domestic in nature. they have been to the location

they say it all started after a fight between teens. nancy: a messy ride on metro. police say that woman admitted to spraying a metrobus driver with juice over an argument about driving off of a stop before she could find a seat. this was on the w1 route along m.l.k. avenue southwest yesterday everything. alison thomas now charged with assault. but could be double trouble. that is because she was picked up as a fugitive for outstanding assault warrant out of prince george's county. alison: developing now, the g.o.p. tax plan unveiling in indiana today. in it, slashing the corporate tax rate from 35 to 20%. president trump said that is a red line with no negotiating. it will reduce the number of the income brackets capping the individual tax rate at 35% for the top bracket. preserve or expand some deductions and eliminating some l

the woman claimed to have a life threatening pet allergy and asked for two comfort dogs to be removed from the plane but she didn't have a doctor's photoabout the allergies so the crew told her, she would have to be one to get off the plane. she wasn't happy with that. police were called. when she refused to leave southwest issued a statement today publicly apologizing and saying it will be contacting the woman directly. at the "live desk," i'm lindsey mastis, abc7 news. alison: all right. i'm sure we will hear more about that soon. thank you. well, the evening rush just getting underway. but it doesn't seem to matter what time of day it is for there to be traffic awe long one stretch of interstate 95. but this stretch between the fairfax county parkway and fredericksburg is now getting the dubious distinction of being the worst stretch of road for traffic in the entire country. northern virginia bureau chief jeff goldberg live in springfield to explain what it is costing you. hi, jeff. jeff:

fame. rush hour is just starting. it's slowing down for the next hour and will probably get worse. if you talk to commuters and let them know this stretch of highway is worst in the country and they have no trouble believing it. the findings of the study, they are saying the 40-mile stretch between the fairfax county parkway and the exit 133 in fredericksburg is considered the most congested stretch of highway in the country. hot spot averaging 23 traffic jams a day. 95 south especially bad with the commuters losing an average of about a half hour backup and brake lights. the study was coun ducted by a traffic data firm out of seattle who also concluded in the next decade -- get this -- this stretch of 95 could cost drivers $2.3 billion in lost time, lost gas money and more carbon emissions. people we spoke with today have absolutely agreed this stretch of

stores this month alone. alison: brad bell has the latest on the investigation. the video is the definition of suspicious behavior. the man in the hoodie is watching, waiting for something and doesn't want to be seen. the police say this is the same man in action with a gun robbing the cell phone store he had been casing in that video. one of the three p.c.s. stores he hit since the start of november. >> he is coward. >> he works in the store the gunman hit two weeks ago. >> life and death situation. you can do the wrong thing and the trigger could be pulled. >> police say the man in the video robbed this store next and recently this one on branch avenue.

latest on this. cheryl? >> this building was damaged when it hit the area. it was closed for 2011. now the restoration crews are here again after the overnight fire. we just got off the phone and spokeswoman for the embassy told us it is possible that the workers may not be able to use the building again. >> it's in need of repairs. it's badly damaged. no one was inside at the time. the building on 15th street in northwest is used for business affairs. no one lives here. a spokesman for d.c. fire says it took more than 100 firefighters to knock it down just after midnight.

changes on the way. nancy? nancy: steve, thank you. developing right now, maryland suing the environmental protection agency over the air coming in from other states. governor hogan's office says 70% of the maryland ozone comes from the power plant in neighboring states. last year maryland petitioned the e.p.a. to find out the impact of 36 power plants in indiana, kentucky, ohio, pennsylvania, and west virginia on maryland's air. but the e.p.a. had yet to act on the request. so now maryland is suing. michelle: joey od toems at the national guard has been singing the national anthem at the ravens game for years but now he is resigning. he calls it an ethical decision. he doesn't want to be caught up in the controversy. he said he is not offended by the protests. he supports them and adds it's something he personally fought for. nancy: o.j. simpson could be a free man in a matter of days. nevada prison official said the plan is in place for the 70-year-old to be released

parole as early as monday. michelle: after 27 years they have cracked bizarre murder case in florida. in 1990, the florida woman was shot to death in her home by someone dressed as a clown and holding balloons. the police reopened the case three years ago and collected new d.n.a. evidence. that led them to sheila warren of virginia who is now married to that victim's husband. >> it took us 27 years to get close to the family. the murder cases never go away. never go away. michelle: the police say that warren had been having an affair with the victim's husband at the time of the shooting. she is being e

two days through traffic to evacuate a hurricane. now imagine turning in the rental car to be hit with a penalty for leaving it too dirty. to kieran, her dog and cat are family. so when she had to evacuate the napals apartment for hurricane irma there was no question that she -- >> was bringing my dog and my cat with me. we began our journey on wednesday. horace: she respected a car from hertz and bought seat protectors for the beloved pets. >> i purchased a seat cover for the front seat where my dog would sit and i purchased an entire backseat cover. horace: after 25-hour drive from southwest florida to escape the storm, she couldn't believe what arrived in the inbox. a $300 cleaning charge for pet hair. >> paying $300 in emergency situation like hurricane irma is unfathomable.
