president trump on his way to las vegas following the deadly mass shooting in u.s. history. he is due to land in about 30 minutes or so. in the meantime, investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the gunman stephen paddock to carry out his shooting rampage. here is the latest. >>

at pulse nightclub. 58 others injured. now the doctors here are helping hospitals across the country learn what they did right and what they could have done better. so we can save as many lives as possible during similar tragedies. the medical staff here was even in las vegas just months before sunday shooting along the vegas strip where 59 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured. i'm about to go talk to one of the doctors who was in las vegas just months before the deadly shooting and help those hospitals learn ways to cope with math shootings. we will have his story tonight on abc seven news at 5:00. adrianna: the musician who was on the stage when the gunshots began sunday night is taking some time off. country music star jason l dean was due to perform this weekend in southern california, but in a statement he said

a man pulled out a full enough and threatened to kill a bus after multiple times refusing to pay his fare. the driver is ok, but understandably shaken up. this comes only a few weeks after a woman was arrested and on aed with throwing urine driver in august. the union is calling for increased police presence on the troubled line to protect both the riders and drivers. the vp for the union said this man was a repeat offender and has been charged with disorderly conduct before. riders agree more needs to be done. >> this is crazy. this is a crazy line. >> i just think it is crazy. they need to get more police to control the metro this. ryan: the union is also calling for tougher penalties for people metro workers. the man is facing assault with a deadly weapon charges among

abc 7 news. adrianna: switching gears now to our weather, we have bins boiled so far with plenty of warmth and sunshine for the start of october. molly is it with the check on the forecast. looking very nice outside. minimal cloud cover. temperatures at lunchtime right around 70 degrees across the d.c. area and we're going to be heating up this afternoon. a daytime high right around 80 degrees. bright sunshine continued for the rest of today. looking like a picture-perfect forecast if the kiddos have anything going on after school today. here's a look at your bastad forecast tomorrow. it looks like this area forecast gives is nice and clear. your heating up by the afternoon. therrow, looking to hit in mid 80's for the daytime high. it looks like the summertime warm feel will be lasting through the upcoming weekend. we do have something new to bring to your attention. it is a tropical depression to the east of central america. it is going

at many of their stores. this one here in fairfax county is one of several locations in the region affected. the company says hikers targeted point-of-sale machines for the devices customers used to swipe or insert other cards when paying. it involved the taprooms and restaurants at whole foods. it is not clear how many were impacted. customer say they are concerned. >> i'm here to pick up a orange juice and i always use my debit card. i will be using cash. i will be more careful. >> it is frustrating. we spent a lot of time here, especially the tap room. it is concerning to know our information may be out there. susan: locally -- suzanne: hitlly, these stores were with the hack. it is important to know the point-of-sale machines in the grocery store were not impacted.

look at the weekend forecast. it is pretty much a rinse and repeat forecast. we will have bright sunshine, feeling mild. saturday, looking to hit the mid 80's. well above average for this time of year. if you're trying to head downtown to taste of d.c., it looks pretty good even through sunday. maybe a very spotty shower, little more cloud cover. we notice the temperature right around 80 degrees. it is all due to this little tropical depression just to the east of central america right now. 30 fivesustained winds, miles lower. it doesn't look like all that much on the satellite will start as we take a look at the track, is expected to turn into a tropical storm by thursday. then it will head into the gulf of mexico. the water is very warm there, so expect it to reach category 1 strength by sunday morning then head into land. that will continue to weaken it into a low on monday. nonetheless, this will

alde, who was on the las vegas stagean when the shooting erected. adrianna: let's take a live picture of the tarmac in las vegas at the airport. we are awaiting the arrival of the president trump who is supposed to land there and meet with the victims, their family members, as well as first responders once he lands we will bring that to you live. police say the gunman stephen paddock used a device called a bump fire stock to make his rifles fire more rapidly. the device, legal, uses a support step that covers the trigger opening when the shooter holds down the trigger come the gun recoils and causes the device to continuously bump the trigger. that allows a much faster fire rate than simply pulling the trigger each time. soccer players at around a high school honoring the alum who was shot in las vegas. they wrote her name and number on their wrist to show her support. frost lost an eye

p.m. today is national international walk to school day. students from hundreds of schools throughout our area took part this morning, including 23 schools in d.c. alone. john gonzales was in southeast earlier today. john: we have a good group here at linkin park in southeast d.c. not only are thousands of schools taking part in this, but we understand 40 countries from around the world are celebrating walk to school day. take a look. this is the scene here at lincoln park. this movement is catching on. last to come organizers recorded .round the country 5000 events nationally, only about 30% of students walk to school. just 50 years ago, nearly 50% walked to school. >> we have been here for 15 years. we of taken part in this tradition since they have been in grammar school. john: and now you're walking with your daughter. how long of a walk is it? >> just from lincoln
