according to the report the shooting ohe morning of june 14 had been months in the making. after the incident a member of the republican baseball team told police he had seen 66-year-old james hodgkinson sitting in the stands watching the team practice. the day before the shooting. analysis of hodgkinson's phone revealed video taken of the field in april. two months before the shooting. >> it's solid inference he was motivated by the perceived political agenda. >> alexandria commonwealth attorney brian porter spent four months composing the 41-page report. according to the findings hodgkinson told family members he wouldn't be around much longer and that he was unhappy with the results of the 2016 election as a supporter of democrat bernie sanders. >> so therefore he decided he would take action against the people he perceived to be the political enemies. >> he used a semi-automatic rifle

in the wake of the las vegas massacre, security is beefed up at this weekend's austin city limits festival. the chicago marathon and sporting events in boston. this is all after reports that stephen paddock was researching sites in other cities before killing 58 people in las vegas last weekend. nancy chen is monitoring the developments at the investigation from the "live desk." nancy: at a press conference in the last hour police saying they were competent no other shooter was in the hotel room but they believe someone had to have helped paddock because of the elaborate plan and the guns he had in hotel room as well as the ammunition bought under someone else's name. tonight, crosses line las vegas boulevard, one for each victim of sunday's shooting. each one has the name of someone died in the shooting placed under the iconic "welcome to las vegas" sign. >> feel like las vegas is having one of the darkest days in american history but trying

jonathan: a spokesperson on tina frost after her shooting. she appears to have no damage to the left eye. that is fantastic. c.t. scan shows no more swelling in her brain. she lost her right eye after being shot in vegas. her other eye is okay. alison: investigators in anne arundel county say the death of three people are gang related. sours tell abc7 officers made five arrest in connection with the murders. the identity of the victims and those arrested have not been released but the county announced a creation of a task force targeting gang members.

kevin lewis has the latest for us. kess there is a bus stop that is across the street and beyond that is a wooded area. the suspect is still at large. >> she was waiting for a bus at this stop in gaithersburg. 5:30 this morning well before sunrise a man approached and dragged the 25-year-old woman down the hill, sexually assaulting her. >> allow the police cars in the morning. >> butler's wife jogs. at times when it's dark. >> from the time we move in eight years ago so this is

that. >> the victim became unconscious in the assault. when she awoke she was missing clothing, had injuries to her head, back and feet. the attacker was long gun. >> we want to identify him and get him off the streets as soon as possible. >> the victim managed to get home where a relative called 911. that lapse in time provided the suspect with 45 minutes to get away. you have an individual waiting at the bus stop. somebody comes up. grabs him, takes him into a wooded area and sexually assaults him. one of the worst things that can happen to you. >> the victim says the attacker is a young black male with a skinny build. even more specifically he was wearing a dark colored checkered jacket or shirt. if you are in this area of gaithersburg around 5:30 and you saw someone matching that description, call the police. we are live in gaithersburg,

alison: thank you. developments on the arrest of an after-school worker at carter rocks spring elementary school in potomac. the "washington post" reports that roy simmons iii was a part-time school district employee working in the school at the time he allegedly touched a 10-year-old girl. he turned himself in thursday to police. jonathan: increasing patrol at d.c. metro station after there were reports of children being mugged on the way to and from school. stephen tschida has details. what is happening out there? stephen: we have d.c. police. you can see them over the shoulder milling around here at the brentwood metro station. this is as the parents called police to keep them safe from other school children. when school get out of d.c. adults avoid metro. they f

it's hard to get a job when you arev an interview, they find out you are homeless they don't want nothing more to do with you. jonathan: but he is home. he has been for five years. five years ago he crossed paths from retired army pilot lieutenant colonel debra schneider. >> debra saved my life. i told her that many times. i'm surprised she is not walking around with wings and a halo on. >> i found there were 68,000 homeless veterans nationwide. me as a veteran i was shocked. jonathan: she did something about it. she started operation renewed hope foundation. the mission get homeless vets homes. lloyd was her first placement. that was five years ago. >> five years later he helped 500 veterans and the family members get in housing or stay in housing in the d.c. area. we have a long way to go but we are getting there. jonathan: young and old she found homes for them including a family with twins living in a

plea deal on second-degree murder charges and sam ford was in the courtroom and explains the rest of the deal. sam: in court today, jose rodriguez-cruz pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and strangling his girlfriend pamela butler nearly nine years ago in an argument in her home in northwest. and then hiding her body. arrested last april, rodriguez-cruz in exchange for a 12-year sentence now says he will take authorities to the body. the family said even if he got no times they wanted the deal. >> no amount of time would bring her back for us. >> they had a funeral but they want her remains. >> i cry every day. >> he has agreed to lead them to the body but
