responding to customer demands. details of the change were announced to staff here at the boy scouts national capital office in a webinar this afternoon. spokesman says welcoming girls will make life easier for families with son and daughters and business schedules. >> we are excited about it. this is something the families are asking for and for us a chance to better serve members. brad: next year, the girls will be welcomed to the younger age group of the scouts. larger scout packs have an option to go program. the program for older girls will start in 20189 enabling them to work toward the rank of eagle scout. public opinion seems mixed. >> i'm not for it. it's like mixed dorms. i prefer to keep the sexes separate. >> it sounds great to me. maybe the girl scouts should do the same. brad: that seems unlikely. in august the head of the girl scouts sent a scathing

this is a deputy dashboard camera. the road itself is barely visible. the deputy did escape unharmed. jonathan: new developments now in the investigation in the las vegas massacre. the mandalay bay hotel released some of the first radio calls about the gunman stephen paddock. the calls are from a maintenance worker. stephen shuck is his name and he approached paddock's suite on the 32nd floor. >> call the police. someone is firing gun, firing a rifle on the 32nd floor down the highway. jonathan: it is pretty clear about the room and the floor it was. police say that exchange took place at least six minutes before paddock began firing at concert goers below killing 58 people and wounding hundreds of others. today, 21-year-old survivor of the rampage filed a lawsuit against mgm resorts and paddock's estate.

nancy: heartbreaking scene on video that illustrates the opioid epidemic. two mothers passed out in the front of a minivan, both overdosing on drugs. this is what police saw when they arrived. >> we have two overdoses and two babies in the back. you want your pacifier? together. that is what police say. paramedics were able to revive the women who are now both jailed with the babies in foster care. jonathan: well, parents in utah under investigation accused of leaving the 3-year-old in a corn maze. police say they didn't report the boy missing for nearly 12 hours. officers say a good samaritan noticed the child was wondering around, brought him to staff and said there is a kid in the maze. the parents called police the next morning to report the son missing. universities say multiple familiar -- investigators say multiple families live in their home with ten or more children. child services is investigating this case. nancy: now to the crisis in the caribbean. a new person could oversee homeland security response to the hurricane maria. the president nominated neilsen who is the deputy chief of stamp. -- chief of staff. three weeks after hurricane

the weekend, bigger changes are on the way. the shower activity will dot radar moving through the evening rush hour commute to overnight hours. we are not expecting anything heavy but enough to likely wet roadways, especially off to the west of us. we will head to western maryland at this hour. the showers have exited cumberland and are moving to hancock. nothing is becoming severe. closer to the d.c. metro, lingering showers over southern frederick county moving east. not going to amount to a lot more. around the capital beltway for those who are waiting for friends and family to come home from work or school, it is dry. at least for right now. but the clouds are out there. for this evening, if you have outdoor plans it will fall slowly to the upper 60's by 8:00 and 9:00 tonight. the lows range from 60 to 66. showerers and drizzle and the patchy fog to continue to early in the morning with the wakeup temperatures.
