inning, things are not looking great, the nats down. we have team coverage live at nats park. erin in just a moment, but first we start with tom roussey. fans know there is a little bit of a curse. sad to report i'm that curse is alive and well. havesports fans' hearts been broken so often. the game started with so much promise for the nats but it has fallen apart. they only have three innings to make it right. the nationals jumped out to a 4-1 lead and the park was rocking. as the game went on, the cubs fans had more to cheer for. then the wheels came off in the fifth inning when max scherzer, usually a starter, came in in relief. ever since, everybody in the stadium is feeling like, hey, we've seen this happen before.

$8,000 in cash and computer equipment. all of this was taken from a home in gambrills. nancy: following up on an investigation in loudoun county, the police are out with sketches after suspicious incidents in brambleton. reported being repeatedly approached by a woman who asked about her children. the woman was later seen walking with a man and may be connected with a second suspicious incident a few days later. if these faces look familiar, the police want to hear from you. jonathan: an update to a notorious tragedy in montgomery county. the police a that tyler tessier killed his girlfriend,, the teacher, who was also pregnant. authorities say that tessier may have led a double life and had at least two other girlfriends besides laura wallen. allen.

a coma and lost her eye in the shooting. nancy: there was a fundraiser tonight to support her and her family. >> she went to a concert. it was hard to wrap my brain around it. when they said she got shot, i said she will be fine. but then they said she was in a coma and not breathing. reporter: but nearly two weeks after being shot in las vegas, she is improving, and so are her family's spirits. the former arundel high school student lost her right eye and is not fully alert, but she has been able to breathe on her own. while tenet is fighting in a las vegas hospital, her friends are fundraising in odenton, selling t-shirts and wristbands. >> at first it did not sound bad, but it was really bad. >> he said she had been shot. i said there was no way.

jonathan: a dire situation in california. days after the first fire, fire officials are warning it will get worse before kids better -- before it gets better because it is very dry. the death toll is now 31 people. rescuers are still searching the remnants of all of the destroyed homes for more victims. the all they'll effort to contain one of the deadliest and most destructive wildfires in california history. >> we are not out of this emergency. we are not even close. jonathan: this team from san francisco a hand to hand, house to house battle. on the frontlines lines firefighters are dealing with thick smoke and rough terrain. >> it's starting up the hillside.

the fourth consecutive time the nationals have failed to advance in the nlds. but they are only down three runs, it's the top of the seventh. there is plenty of time in this game. really, if you look at the season, the way the regular season has gone for the nationals, injury after injury. somebody has always stepped up. if you are a nats fan come you are wondering who will be the hero to, who will step up at the plate. willoughby harbor, zimmerman -- will it be harbor, zimmerman, michael a. taylor? and of course, the dodgers waiting in the next round. they have announced it will be clayton kershaw. if they advance, game one will be saturday night. what have you thought about this game, jonathan? are you nervous? jonathan:

on pins and needles. the thing that is so troubling, scherzer, who has been an ace all year long, one of the best in the game, comes in in relief and gives up all of these runs and did not look as though he was playing his best. erin: absolutely, and i was thinking during that what a mental game baseball is. i don't know what that max scherzer was that we saw tonight, but it was not the cy young winner. i think maybe the nerves got to him or something. we have never seen him throw wild pitches and give up four runs like that.
