look inside the command center that works to keep the area safe. sam sweeney spoke to the security director. that's not an easy job. a lot of people flocking to that area. sam: a lot of people. diane has seen it all. she has spent 27 years with m.p.d. and she was an assistant police chief. she did patrol. but this is her biggest assignment yet. she works in the central security command office known as the heartbeat of the operation. in her eyes the southwest water front is more than an entertainment complex. it's her responsibility and pition to keep it safe. >> you can't let your guard down. sam: this is the wharf command center. dozen of tv's, 24 hour monitoring team and feet away command team from the d.c. police, fire, private security and logistics manager. >> we talk about the decisions before we make them. we are not half

we -- haphazard. we don't come off the cuff. sam: the camera system is so sophisticated if a child is missing and they call police, they can go to the camera. this child walks away from the parents, hide under the bench and the group of women there don't know he is missing or where he is. when the 911 call comes in, they will be able to review the footage and save frantic seconds. the cameras can zoom in directly on anyone's face. d.c. police can also monitor the cameras in real-time. around the wharf, you will find 34 emergency call boxes. many along the water. >> if someone should go in the water we have a push button technology right here where you press a button. all the bulk headlights will go on. >> 24 hours in, there is no incident. 60,000 people are expected to be here in the next three days. the mission and central command. >> make sure people can get here safely and leave safely. >> diane says her goal is not to make this a police state

jonathan: a woman is dead following a crash with a train in glen burnie. the driver was making illegal turn when the train struck her car. she later died at the hospital. the child in her car was seriously injured. michelle: caught on video, a suspected drunk driver with his child riding in the backseat slams into two cars. the second of which was a police car. watch. >> i'm trying to stop this guy. hold on. she just hit me, too. get out of the car, now! show me your hands. michelle: the driver immediately surrendered n
