costume. see the look that really got the president's attention on this tuesday, october 31st. from abc news, this is "world news now." >> you made it to the white house? >> in my little dinosaur costume. >> not so little dinosaur costume. >> robert mueller is dressing as everything to get a little information on the white house. the white house is a little spooked. after what happened. the latest development in the investigations. the possible collusion between the trump campaign and russia. the indictments of three former advisers. >> paul manafort and rick gates have pleaded not guilty to a dozen counts, mostly stemming from business dealings. but former adviser george papadopoulos has cut a deal. pleading guilty to lying to the fbi about his contacts with the russians. and president trump is proclaiming on twitter that there is no collusion. >> if convicted, manafort could face 20 years behind bars.

legal experts believe robert mueller may be using the possible sentence as leverage to get him to turn on others. but in the past, manafort had categorically denied that the campaign had anything to do with russia. >> are there any ties between mr. trump, you and your campaign and putin and his regime? >> no, there are not. it's absurd. there's no basis to it. >> manafort helped orchestrate drum -- donald trump's convention. manafort and rick gates are now under house arrest and due back in court this thursday. >> george papadopoulos is now cooperating with the fbi. after initially making fall statements. >> i >> he claims campaign officials were willing to accept help. brian ross with the details. >> reporter: it is the biggest break in the case yet, the strongest evidence yet of possible collusion with details of how this trump campaign

adviser. 30 year old george papadopoulos worked with suspected russian agents and denied it to the fbi as he did when he talked with abc news earlier this year. the special counsel revealed that he pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the fbi on october 5th and has been secretly cooperating. >> it's very significant to have an official with any major presidential campaign admitting that they're working with the russian government to hurt their opponent and admitting that they lied about that fact to cover it up. >> reporter: papadopoulos joined the trump campaign in march of 2016. >> george papadopoulos. >> reporter: donald trump's now well-known words of praise. >> excellent guy. >> reporter: but three days later, papadopoulos was in london meeting with his russian connections, including a woman i he thought was vladimir

niece but turns out was not. according to the fbi, the russians told papadopoulos on april 26th they had dirt on hillary clinton and thousands of e-mails long before they were made public. the day after that pivotal meeting, donald trump gave his first foreign policy speech with an emphasis on russia. >> i believe an easing of tensions, improved relations with russia from a position of strength only is possible. absolutely possible. >> reporter: according to court filings, papadopoulos, as an unpaid adviser reported to four separate advisers. trying to set up a meeting between trump and putin. one told him great job and another wrote an e-mail, i would encourage you. yet the president has repeatedly denied his campaign had any connection with anyone in russia. including this exchange with abc's cecelia vega. >> did you or anyone in your campaign have any contact with russia leading up to the campaign? none at all. >> reporter: none at all he said. the four officials to whom

named in the charges but if they, too, lied about the russian contacts they also will face criminal prosecution. brian ross. abc news. and there are new reports that president trump is fuming over the allegations. sources tell abc news he had no advance notice from special counsel robert mueller's office. >> he said sorry, but this is years ago before paul manafort was part of the trump campaign. but why aren't crooked hillary and the dems the focus. also, there is no collusion. there's nothing in the manafort indictment about collusion. the guilty plea on papadopoulos centered on the russians, about getting dirt on hillary clinton. >> we've been saying from day one, there's been no evidence of trump/russia collusion and nothing in the indictment changes that at all. >> when sanders was asked if the president was ruling out firing robert mueller, sanders said there were no plans to make any

charges to the special counsel. >> speaking to reporters in his native wisconsin, ryan called it big news but said he had not read the indictment. ryan also said he feels very good about the tax bill that republicans are going to release tomorrow. officials say u.s. commandos have captured one of the organizers of the benghazi attack. he is now on board a warship and will be taken to the u.s. for trial. he's the second person facing charges for the 2012 attacks on a diplomatic compound and cia base. the ambassador to libya and others were killed in that attack. and army sergeant bowe bergdahl apologized to those who searched for him in afghanistan. he pleaded guilty to desertion. he was captured by the taliban hours after walking off his post and brought home in a prisoner swap. he choked up as he sa
