♪ we're following some other breaking news, this time from the west coast. a suspect who allegedly held a teacher hostage for seven hours at the elementary school has now passed away. >> the suspect, who has not been identified, later died at this hospital. police say he assaulted a worker before barricading himself inside a classroom. >> it's one of our first grade

parent and just pray for her. >> we do have our s.w.a.t. team is on scene. this is a tactical situation, along with our emergency negotiations team. when they arrived, they learned that there was some type of altercation that occurred, and now a parent was barricaded inside one of the classrooms with what we believe is a teacher. >> the teacher, identified as linda maupt gomry was taken to the hospital as a precaution after being rescued. the 70-year-old montgomery has taught at that school for decades. the parent has a daughter at the school. it's not clear whether he was carrying a weapon. family members say he has a history of mental health issues and relapsed white house chief of staff john kelly coming under fire about comments about the civil war. he was asked about civil war monuments and whether they should be taken
