>> and now, abc7 news at noon on your side. >> right now at noon, a gruesome discovery in frederick, maryland. two bodies found in the middle of the street and now the expected killer is in custody. the investigation is under wea. is underway. reporter: it remains an active crime scene. if you look behind me you can see investigators in frederick are frying to figure out why a man willed two people in this townhouse. two bodies lay in the parking lot of the 6800 block. also in

on the curb a gray four-door chevy malibu with blood on the back half. the sheriff is now confirming that the vehicle did strike the two people who died here. the suspect was located after they arrived. at this point they will only say the three people involved knew each other. residents in the community say this isn't the type of thing you typically see here. >> it's alarming to hear that two people are -- anybody gets killed in your neighborhood. it doesn't make you feel safe for sure. so hopefully this is an isolated incident. reporter: the sheriff is just telling me that they are still working to identify the two victims. they range in age between 20 and 35. authorities have not released the suspect's name nor the charges he will face. in frederick, suzanne kennedy, abc7 news. >> investigators are looking for the cause of a deadly house fire in

two people died when flames engulfed this home about 5:at this time this morning. we are -- 5:30 this morning. we are told the home was to be vacant. a firefighter did suffer a minor injury while battling that fire. >> now to the latest out of new york. overnight president trump pleading the suspect who carried out the attack should get the death penalty. his remarks come as we learn more of the background of the killer. maggie has the latest on this investigation. reporter: in new york this morning on a pre-planned trip to talk about national security, attorney general jeff sessions praises the nypd and its response to this week's attack. >> the people of new york should know they have one of the finest law enforcement institutions in the country, maybe the finest. reporter: as we learn more about how the attack unfolded, heartbreaking images of those whose lives were taken. six life-long friends visiting from

a chain saw on himself. john gonzalez has more on the investigation. reporter: the details are grizzly and disturbing. it played out like a halloween horror movie the day after halloween. the weapons used a hatchet and a chain saw. fairfax police got the call about 3:30 yesterday afternoon of a 70-year-old man in his own home who started attacking his 76-year-old wife with the small ax cutting her on the neck and face. the daughter rushed to the home and was able to fight off her step-father as police arrived in the neighborhood in springfield and surrounded the house setting up a perimeter. they eventually noticed the man lying in the garage with el is inflicted -- self-inflicted wounds caused by a chain saw and he later died at the hospital. >> you don't know what goes on behind closed doors. it spilled out to the front yard and people heard screaming and called for emergency. they notified me.

watch here, and so i was concerned about what was going on. i went down and couldn't believe what i was hearing. reporter: the elderly victim is expected to make a full recovery. her daughter was not harmed. police describe this as a tragic domestic incident, and in an attempt to protect the victim's identity police are not releasing the suspect's name. in springfield, john gonzalez, abc7 news. >> new developments from silver spring after a man was accused of hiding a spy camera in the bath of are a maryland gymnastics center. police in montgomery county are starting a tip line for jonathon oldale. he was a father involved in summer camps and active at his neighborhood pool in somerset. he is now banned from school property. so far police have not found any additional hidden devices. >> this just in. president trump's nominee to be the agriculture chief scientist has withdrawn his nomination after being named in the special council's russia probe.

you can see a man step out of the ar -- out of the car at a gas pump and walk into the store. moments later the trunk pops open and a woman climbs out and runs into the store. once inside surveillance cameras spot the driver. once he sees the woman he then takes off. he was later pulled over, arrested and charged with a robbery and kidnapping. adrianna: another one of the explosive reports of alleged sexual miss con dct as the #metoo movement goes forward across journalism, hollywood and more. there are accusations against a high-powered director from olivia m nu n and -- m nu n and several others. reporter: the latest powerful film maker being called out by some for alleged sexual harassment and abuse. the man behind "rush hour." and he was behind "x men: the

something and you need to look at it. it is important. reporter: in an instagram report she said she spit in her coconut oil and putting clam dip in her lotion and other things too disgusting to talk about on television. she had driven away her freshman roommate she called a jamaican barbie. when she learned of the tampering she went to the school authorities and the girl was arrested. she told her story getting four million views alleging the university should have done more. jazzy writing as a young african-american woman i don't want to become another statistic. when it comes to college incidents, crimes and racial incidents justice needs to be served. many responding with the # justice for jazzy calling for the university to address what some are calling a hate crime. according to the police report she admitted to licking her roommate's eating utensils and rubbing bodily fluids on her

>> you're watching abc7 news at noon. on your side. >> right now an investigation is underway after two people were killed in a house fire in prince george's county. brian is in seat county with the details. reporter: neighbors describe the fire as horrific and wish they could have done more. flames raced through the home in the 6200 block of foot street connectionly spreading from the basement all the way to the second floor. >> flames were coming from the roof. flames were coming from all of the windows. it was a bad sight to see. i was heart broken. i was devastated. i knew somebody was in there. reporter: the call came in at 5:30 in the morning. firefighters were able to knock it down and get the fire under control in 20 minutes, but just before 6:00, two people were found dead on the second floor. neighbors say it was abandoned for years and the victim m

be homeless. >> the house is normally considered vacant. we are not sure what the circumstances are surrounding the people occupying the house. reporter: and this block is no stranger to tragedy. her father and four others were killed in the house fire in 2 have -- 2001. >> the names of the victims have not been released. an autopsy will determine an exact cause of death. the cause of this fire remains under investigation. in seat pleasant, ryan hughesing abc7 news. >> police have one person in custody after the deaths of two people in frederick. it happened ready a -- it happened around 5:00 when officers responding to an assault call found a man and a woman in the road. police also found a car covered in blood. no word yet on a motive, but investigators say the two victims and the person in custody did know each other. adrianna: at 12:32 we are learning more about the eight

attack in manhattan. amy is in new york with more. reporter: these are the heartbreaking new images of the six life long friends from argentina out enjoying a beautiful day biking on new york city's west side highway. a few moments later, saipov would turn his home depot rental truck into a deadly weapon mowing down everything in his path. five of the men were killed. their former classmate, martin morrow, who now lives in boston seriously wounded. >> he doesn't understand all that happened yet. it hasn't been explained to him. reporter: the men wearing matching t-shirts boarding the plane to the u.s. were more thanked with a vigil overnight in their native country. a somber mood here in this shaken city as we learn more about the others killed in the attack. darrin was a project manager. he was riding his bike between meetings. >> i am not even angry.

out. we are putting alerts on the free abc7 news app. adrianna: the house intelligence committee released dozens of social media ads to -- saying they were put out to influence the 2016 election. they were meant to exploit the american society and tip the election in favor of president trump and against hillary clinton. one of them even referenced clinton as satan. others concerned i will legal immigration, gun rights and after -- african-american political activism. adrianna: right now police are digging into a gruesome scene involving an elderly couple. a 70-year-old man attacked his 76-year-old wife with an axe. the woman's daughter stopped the attack and police arrived. they found the husband with self-inflicted wounds from a chainsaw. he died at the hospital. a neighbor saw part of the incident from her window. >> i never seen anything like that.

i don't know if he was on medication. he looks like the cold type, the quiet and cold type. i don't know what happened to him. adrianna: the injuries the woman sustained are not life-threatening. it is unclear what sparked the incident. adrianna: now a disturbing story from montgomery county. a man was charged for hiding a spy camera in a gymnastics bathroom. we have the latest on this story. reporter: hospital -- montgomery county police say thisy may have confronted the suspect here at the silver star gymnastics or elsewhere in the community. they want parents to send in photos of their children so they can see if those images match the images found on videos they encounter as a result of their investigation. all of this is taking place back in the spring. the camera which was hidden in a

backpack in a bathroom. it was found on may 5th. however he was not charged until october 18th. it was at a community meeting last night some parents voiced concerns about the delay. the police saying this is a complicated case that takes time and that oldale knew he was under investigation since the spring. oldale was a class parent at his kids' school and ran a summer camp and operated operated a pool in the somerset neighborhood. all of the facilities have been searched to make sure there were no hidden cameras. oldale is out on bond and so far charged with one misdemeanor. suzanne kennedy, abc news. adrianna: whole foods locations across the country want to hire you. it is national hiring day for the food store. you just need to bring a resume with you. dress casually. there is also the possibility for on the spot job offers. adrianna: starbucks hol

fall color change off to the west. it is giving it another week or so. keep in mind it is so dry around here over the last couple months. it is not as robust as it has been in the past. we are at 74 degrees for a high on monday. 50 degrees on tuesday. and then by wednesday and thursday of next week we drop down into the 50s with lows in the 40s. that's going to start a trend with below average readings today and tomorrow. adrianna: just revel in the days we have coming up. now to a consumer alert. the government is recalling 40 million fire distinguishers because of safety concerns. david curley has the alarming details. reporter: fires on the cook tops in the kitchen, car fires on the road. it is reasons milon

this morning 38 million of those distinguishers with plastic nozzles are under recall. >> what is wrong with these fire distinguishers? >> this has a push button and this has a plastic handle. either of those fire distinguishers can have a problem. it may get clogged or it may not deploy. reporter: needing -- meaning some or not of the contents are sprayed on the fire. >> i will try it with a push and a quick clog. reporter: it points to the death of 22-year-old brendan roscoe traveling down this pennsylvania road in august of 2014 he crashed into a tree and the car started to burn. police arrived minutes later and tried to use two of the recalled distinguishers, but they didn't work. on the large recall, kita tells us in a statement that it identified a product safety issue. they worked to voluntarily initiate a recall and replace them as quickly as possible. the company is offering a replacement for all 38 million distinguishers.
