candidates spoke less than an hour ago, but he was quickly interrupted. what happened? richard: that's right, a big victory for ralph northam tonight. he came out to give his victory speech, nodding to the crowd, waving. he is just about to make his speech when suddenly there is shouting. several voices are shouting "sanctuary, sanctuary," and ralph northam was hustled off the stage. the protesters were led away quickly, but it was a strange start to this new administration. he was talking tonight about unity. let's listen in. >> that we will not condone hatred and bigotry and to end the politics that have poor this country apart. i want to let you know that in

speech. he had been tweeting all day about the locations he visited across virginia, people receiving the robo call from president trump on gillespie's behalf, and those efforts were not enough. he called northam to congratulate him on his victory. through his campaign, gillespie really tried to appeal to his voters. >> more than a million virginians who came out and were expressing very legitimate concerns about the need for more opportunity here in the commonwealth, the need for more jobs.on of stable anna-lysa: on twitter, president trump shared his reaction from south korea. gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what i stand for."
