gillespie, 54% to 45%. but many said they cast their ballot to express opposition to president trump. >> reporter: good morning. a huge win for democrats in virginia. so many people were watching this race. in this race for governor, it was the lieutenant governor, ralph northam who pulled off the victory for the democrats. he was running against ed gillespie, an establishment republican who was sort of embracing president trump in some regards but never actually campaigned with him here in virginia. in his remarks after his victory, northam said virginia would stay an inclusive state. here's what he had to say. >> it's going to take a doctor to heal our differences. to bring unity to our people. and i'm here to let you know that the doctor is in. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: now even though gillespie never campaigned with the president, president trump was active on twitter, supporting gillespie, and even

but on tuesday night when it turned out gillespie lost the race, the president did tweet this. ed gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what i stand for. so the president taking a parting shot after this race here in virginia. i did ask northam earlier on tuesday what this would mean for trumpism if he won. and he said it would give momentum to the democratic party, that they can reject bigotry and hatred and racism and move the country forward in a different direction. tom llamas, back to you guys. >> thanks, tom, and the other closely-watched governor's race was in new jersey. >> phil murphy handily beat the republican lieutenant governor. all during the campaign, he tied her to her boss. that's quite a victory leap from murm murm murphy there. >> so after

he was able to buy multiple guns. newly released police records show kelley escaping from a new mexico mental health facility in june of 2012. the police report noting kelley suffered from mental disorders, had been caught sneaking firearms onto holloman air force base. he had charges for punching his ex-wife and his stepson. that domestic abuse conviction should have been shared by the air fou air force with the fbi. >> are we take responsibility and we're going to fix it. >> reporter: the pentagon reviewing what went wrong, whether other cases are also falling through the cracks. as investigators dissect every detail of the killer's life, the fbi acknowledging they've yet to unlock kelley's

oh, wow, look at that video. that's a moment a woman was dragged through a parking lot by a suspected carjacker. it happened north of hartford, connecticut. police say the 34-year-old woman had parked her car at a convenience store, leaving it running, keeping her keyless fob in her pocket. the suspect is still at large at this hour. the woman suffered no sear just injuries. >>. and a baseball star has been killed in a plane crash. >> here's victor oquendo. >> reporter: one of the best pitchers of his generation, roy "doc" halliday killed. >> we know roy as a person. as a caring husband, who loved his wife randi. he loved his two boys tremendously. >> reporter: the eight-time all-star and

request a gro with a group of people who have no idea they're about to be hacked. a massive breach made headlines in september. hackers somehow introduced 50 malicious apps, also known as doppelgangers, fake apps that mirror the real thing into the google play store. then millions of unsuspecting android users downloaded them 4.2 million times. one of them called "lovely wallpaper." you don't realize it's a fake. >> if you downloaded a nasty version of minecraft for example you actually seem to get minecraft, but in the background, the attackers are able to access your information. >> reporter: he's given android phones to all five of our volunteers as part of our demonstration. we've told them to use the phones as they normally would. what they don't know is that james has already installed a malicious app on t
